Volkswagen Crafter 2006-2016 Roof rack (primed for painting)

Description

The rear door-mounted cargo box (for painting) is a fiberglass cargo box from the Turkish manufacturer Cagatay, which is mounted at the rear on the rear doors of the first-generation Volkswagen Crafter model years 2006–2016. It is also called a “backpack” or “suitcase”: it increases the cargo volume of a minibus or van without taking up space in the cabin. The product is supplied unpainted — before installation it is painted to match the body color; the set includes 1 cargo box.

Which Crafter this cargo box fits

The product listing is linked to Volkswagen Crafter 2006–2016, i.e. the first generation — both pre-facelift and facelift vehicles. For the newer body and for the Mercedes Sprinter, there are separate products from the same manufacturer in the catalog, so choose the part number specifically for your model.

At the generation change for Crafter, the year in the registration documents does not always indicate the body: for 2016–2017 vehicles, check by the front end — headlights, grille, and bumper. If you are unsure, send the manager a photo of the rear of the vehicle with the doors open.

What “for painting” means and what the cargo box is made of

Material per the listing — fiberglass, base color — “for painting”. That means the box comes without a final finish, and it needs to be prepped and painted to match the vehicle color: fiberglass holds paint well and does not rust, and a painted product looks like part of the body. Plan the painting before installation — it is more convenient to treat the edges and inner surfaces. Mounting per the listing — to factory mounting points, without modifying the body structure.

How the rear door-mounted cargo box is installed

• Mounting. The rear cargo box is installed on the door hinges; the unit is large and heavy, so two people work together.
• Wiring. If the cargo box has its own lights, they are connected to the vehicle lights or via the towbar socket — it is better to entrust this part to an auto electrician.
• Delivery dimensions. The package per the listing is 240 × 200 × 75 cm and about 100 kg, so it is delivered by freight service; allow space for unpacking.
• Service. You can have the cargo box installed and painted at the network of certified DD Tuning service centers — the manager will suggest the nearest one.

Before ordering, уточніть with the manager the kit contents for your vehicle: the listing states “1 cargo box in the set”.
