How to properly polish your headlights

Tools and materials

For work you will need:

• Special polishing paste for headlights;
• Masking tape;
• Polishing machine;
• Pure water;
• Various waterproof sandpaper with grit from 1000 grit.

Process

It is advisable to carry out the work indoors to avoid direct sunlight.

So, the process of polishing without removing the headlights looks like this:

• First, we glue the headlight around the perimeter with masking tape. This will protect the paintwork of the car in case of accidental hit with a polishing machine.
• Then we take coarse sandpaper and polish the headlight in different directions. At the same time, we periodically moisten the emery with clean water.
• After removing deep scratches, we change the emery to fine-grained and continue polishing according to the same principle.
• Dry the headlight.
• Then we prepare a polishing machine with a smooth sponge, after moistening the sponge.
• Apply polishing paste to the headlight.
• We set the machine to minimum speed and polish it over the entire surface.
• We gradually increase the speed, continuing the process of rubbing in the paste.
• Finishing the work, remove the remnants of the paste with water, remove the masking tape. This completes the headlight polishing process.
