How to reduce average fuel consumption?

But, if they are greatly reduced, this can lead, on the contrary, to a higher average fuel consumption. So try to stick to the recommended range.

• Speed.

Do not forget that doubling the speed gives an increase in the force of air resistance squared, that is, four times. Have you already figured out how to cut costs? It is necessary to choose the optimal speed mode. Let's say you need to travel 150 km. You can drive at different speeds, but let's take two options: 95 km / h and 120 km / h. In the first option, we will spend about 100 minutes on the road, in the second - about 70 minutes and 3 extra liters of fuel.

• External tuning.

External tuning of cars also affects their efficiency, but not all. Therefore, we advise you to remove all not particularly valuable devices and / or decorations. For example, a roof rack mounted on the roof will add up to 3 liters per 100 km to the consumption, but just roof rails - only 0.25 liters. An open window will increase the flow rate to 0.5 liters, and a kenguryatnik to 1 liter. True, these are minor changes, but given the current fuel prices ...

• Air conditioning equipment.

Air conditioning, like other electrical equipment, also affects the average consumption of your fuel. In warm weather, it consumes from 1.5 liters of fuel per 100 km at medium speeds. If you turn it on at full capacity, you can spend more.

• Tire width.

The wider the tire, the higher the average fuel consumption. And the rubber cannot be changed, since its width is provided by the manufacturer, but there is another way out. For example, increasing the pressure by 0.3 bar from the recommended value increases the efficiency of the machine, as the contact area with asphalt decreases.

• Start.

A smooth start with minimal acceleration and deceleration will also give you tangible fuel savings, especially in city driving, where all driving is from traffic light to traffic light.

• Gasoline quality.

Always use gasoline recommended by the car manufacturer. Trying to win in price leads to the loss of money on excessive fuel consumption. Plus - increased wear and risk of engine damage.
