Fender trims at DD Tuning come in four types: carbon trims made from genuine carbon fiber (DDCarbon) for the front or rear fenders of sports cars; vehicle-specific "gills"—vent-style trims for Range Rover, Land Rover, BMW X3–X6, Tesla, and Toyota Prado 250; stainless-steel trims for Renault Clio V and Megane IV; and universal vent-look trims by HongHang and DPT. Vehicle-specific kits install in factory locations; stainless steel and HongHang mount with self-adhesive tape; DPT mounts with glass adhesive/sealant.

Carbon or plastic: what’s the difference between fender trims

Genuine carbon fiber is used in DDCarbon trims and in Defender carbon gills—these are custom-made for a specific model. Gloss-black ABS plastic only resembles carbon; color and shine don’t define the material, so refer to the “Material” line. M-style gills for BMW are supplied ready for painting to match the body color. For Clio V there are two stainless-steel options: Carmos and OmsaLine—Italian stainless steel from a Turkish manufacturer with a more precise fit.

How to choose vehicle-specific or universal trims

  • Vehicle-specific trims match factory mounting points, so always compare the body type and model years with the product title. Range Rover Sport gills for 2010–2013 and 2018–2022 are different parts: facelift versions do not fit pre-facelift 2013–2017.
  • For Range Rover L322, gills are designed for 2005–2013 and come in several styles (Autobiography V1, V2, V5, as well as V3, V4)—gray or black. For L405 there are SVO (black) and SVA: gray, black, or black with chrome.
  • HongHang universal trims are not tied to a specific model: you choose the location on the fender. Measure the area first—the dimensions of each type are listed on the product page, from 20 to 43.5 cm in length.
  • DPT is “limited universal”: compare the dimensions from the product page with your fender.
  • The OEM gill for Nissan Patrol Y62 and Armada is sold individually—two are needed for both sides.

How fender trims are mounted

The installation method is listed in the specifications under “Installation type.” Vehicle-specific GBT gills, Tesla and Prado 250 trims, and the Nissan gill install in factory locations. Stainless-steel trims stick on with the included tape; HongHang universal trims use self-adhesive backing. DPT requires glass adhesive/sealant, which is not included. Before bonding, degrease the surface and test-fit the trim dry.

What else to check for the body

Other carbon-fiber parts are in Carbon trims; wheel-arch extensions are in Arch extensions and trims; hood tuning is in Hood trims. If you need an actual fender as a body panel, not a decorative trim, see Fenders. The rest of body tuning is in Body kits.

Frequently asked questions

These are decorative ventilation trims on the front fenders: model-specific ones fit the factory mounting points, while universal ones are adhesive. “Gills” sometimes also refers to grille inserts — look for them in the “Grille Tuning” section.
The DDCarbon trim pieces and carbon gills for Land Rover Defender are made of genuine carbon — this is specified in the characteristics. The black gloss ABS plastic only looks like carbon, so refer to the “Material” line in the product card.
Model-specific trims are matched to the body and years stated in the name, for example Range Rover Sport 2018–2022 or Tesla Model Y 2020–2024. Restyled and pre-restyling parts are not interchangeable, so check the production year; for universal trims, compare the dimensions with the product card.
Model-specific gills are installed in the factory mounting points, stainless steel trims use the adhesive tape included in the kit, universal HongHang trims are self-adhesive, and DPT trims are installed with glass adhesive sealant. The installation type is specified in the characteristics of each product.
The M-style gills for BMW X3, X4, X5, and X6 are supplied ready for body-color painting. The rest of the trims come with a finished surface: black plastic, chrome stainless steel, or carbon.
This page includes only fender trims. Body fenders themselves can be found in the “Fenders” section of body parts.
