How to identify your BMW body code

At BMW, one series comes in several generations, and each has its own index: E — older bodies, F and G — newer ones, U — the newest. Parts are generally not interchangeable between generations, so focus on the body code, not just the series name. For example, the 3 Series is both F30/F31 and G20/G21; the 5 Series is F10/F11 and G30/G31; the X5 is E70, F15 and G05. A mirror cover and an overlay are different products: a cover fully replaces the original, while an overlay is glued on top of it.
