Lotus and Proton will be owned by Chinese company Geely

The leadership of the Chinese car company Geely announced the repurchase of two brands – Lotus and Proton. It seems that the Chinese are obsessed with the world automotive market. After all, it already owns Swedish brand Volvo.
The sale of the two car companies Proton and Lotus to the Chinese Geely group will be formalized at the end of July.

Firm Proton, though not presented in the Ukrainian market, but it is one of the leading manufacturers in South-East Asia. Date of establishment of the company marked 1983. Then the production car was based on the issue of the official models of the Japanese company Mitsubishi. Their machines the company started to produce closer to the end of the 90-ies. But still the engine for these cars was made by Japanese craftsmen. Brand its products appeared in the beginning of zero years.
At this time, the car line to the Malaysian company Proton is calculated by eight models. However, at the local market, this brand loses much of its competitor Perodua.
The company Lotus is famous for its sports cars and what belongs to the same Proton, and that in turn gave his rights DRB-Hicom. So 51% controlling stake will now be owned by a Chinese brand, which plans to invest in Geely tuning, as well as in the development of one enterprise and another. Especially as Lotus have their own automotive experts and developed technology.
