Fog lights - a necessity or ballast

Unfortunately, today more and more car owners neglect basic safety elements for the sake of the car’s appearance. Some do not even remember the need for fog lights . And they can save your life and the lives of others.

Due to fog, visibility on the road is very low and it is difficult for car drivers to adequately assess the situation, which ultimately leads to disastrous consequences. It is in order to avoid such consequences that fog lights are needed.

Advantages of fog lights

Due to the fact that the wavelength of the fog lights is longer than that of conventional ones, they easily break through the fog with their light. The range of light of such headlights usually does not exceed ten meters, but their light spreads to the sides, which makes it easy to see the marking lines and the roadside.

This feature is useful even in the absence of fog. For example, if you are driving on a narrow, winding road or in courtyards where there are often many cars, because of which people or animals may suddenly run out.

Choice of fog lights

When choosing fog lamps, special attention should be paid to their glow color, while their size and shape are not particularly important. On sale there are:

• blue,
• red,
• amber,
• white,
• yellow headlights.

The most effective are yellow and white. Still, the former remain the most common.

Also foglights are divided into:

• LED (Led-lamps),
• Halogen,
• Xenon.

And there are also front and rear fog lights.
