Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is the station wagon of the twelfth-generation Corolla (E210), which in Europe has become one of the most popular “family” cars with a hybrid. In Ukraine it is more often called simply “Toyota Corolla Touring Sport” or “Corolla wagon”. We break down how the 1.8 and 2.0 hybrids differ, what the facelift changed, how much the trunk actually holds, and what’s new for the 2026 model year version.

E210 generation and facelift

Toyota introduced the wagon in September 2018. It was created for Europe: the design was drawn at Toyota’s European design center, and the platform is the modular TNGA GA-C, the same as the hatchback and sedan. The wagon’s wheelbase is 2700 mm, like the sedan’s, so the rear row is roomier than in the hatchback.

In June 2022 Toyota announced the updated Corolla, whose sales in Europe started in the first quarter of 2023. This is the facelift people ask about most often: on the outside it is modest—different grille, new wheels and colors—while the main changes are hidden under the hood and in the cabin:

  • fifth-generation hybrid system with more powerful electric motors;
  • new lithium-ion traction battery—according to Toyota, up to 18 kg lighter;
  • multimedia with a 10.5-inch screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster;
  • updated Toyota T-Mate safety systems package.

At the start of sales in 2019, besides hybrids, a 1.2 Turbo gasoline engine was offered. The current European Touring Sports range is the 1.8 and 2.0 hybrids.

1.8 and 2.0 hybrids: specifications

Both powertrains are full hybrids (HEV) with no plug-in charging: the gasoline engine works together with electric motors and an e-CVT planetary transmission; drive is front-wheel. The car charges the battery itself—from the engine and during braking. More on the difference between HEV, PHEV and MHEV is in the article about types of hybrid cars.

CO2 emissions at the level of 101–107 g/km correspond to roughly 4.4–4.7 l of gasoline per 100 km in the WLTP cycle. Real consumption depends on the scenario: in the city a full hybrid can drive for a long time with the engine off and saves the most; on fast highways the advantage over a conventional gasoline wagon is noticeably smaller.

Dimensions are the same for both versions:

  • length — 4650 mm;
  • width — 1790 mm;
  • height — 1435 mm;
  • wheelbase — 2700 mm.

Trunk and practicality

It’s precisely for the trunk that people buy the Touring Sports, and it is important to know about the difference between versions. In the 1.8 hybrid, the volume to the parcel shelf is about 596–598 l, and with the backrests folded—up to 1606 l. In the 2.0 version the trunk is smaller: 581 l and 1591 l, because due to the larger hybrid system the cargo floor sits higher. That’s why you can see both figures in reviews and listings—and both are correct.

What’s useful in the trunk:

  • a reversible false floor: one side carpeted, the other rubber that can be washed;
  • the floor can be repositioned to get a flat platform when the seats are folded;
  • the rear backrests (60/40) fold from the trunk using remote levers;
  • cargo platform—about 1067 × 1055 mm, with side cubbies for small items;
  • on more expensive trims, a power tailgate with gesture control is available.

Interior, multimedia and safety

After the facelift, the cabin gained the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system with a 10.5-inch screen, cloud navigation and a voice assistant, as well as a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with four display modes. From the 2026 model year, the 12.3-inch digital cluster is standard on all versions.

The Toyota T-Mate package combines the latest-generation Toyota Safety Sense with new functions:

  • adaptive cruise control and automatic braking before an obstacle;
  • lane-keeping assistance;
  • Acceleration Suppression—protects against accidental pedal application;
  • Safe Exit Assist—warns of traffic approaching from behind when opening the door;
  • a reminder for a passenger or items on the rear seat;
  • from the 2026 model year—a driver attention monitoring camera on all versions.

The suspension is tuned for comfort: the wagon absorbs bumps softly while still holding its line with confidence.

GR Sport and the “twin” Suzuki Swace

GR Sport is the flashiest Touring Sports version, but it’s an appearance package rather than a “hot” modification. It gets its own grille, 18-inch wheels, black mirror caps, sport seats with red stitching, and GR Sport badges. The powertrain is the same—2.0 hybrid. The truly “hot” Corolla is the GR Corolla hatchback, and it does not come as a wagon.

Touring Sports for Europe is assembled at Toyota Manufacturing UK in Burnaston (United Kingdom). On the same line they produce the Suzuki Swace—essentially the same wagon with a different grille and badges and with the 1.8 hybrid. For the owner, this means the same dimensions, trunk, and compatibility of most accessories.

Corolla Touring Sports 2026 and what’s next

Toyota announced the 2026 model year update in December 2025, with European sales starting in March 2026. There are not many changes:

  • Onyx Grey matte gray—introduced for the first time among Toyota models for Europe; for the wagon and GR Sport;
  • a new metallic color in the palette;
  • Samara upholstery made from recycled materials across a wider range of versions;
  • a driver monitoring camera and a 12.3-inch digital cluster—standard;
  • the 2.0 hybrid is stated with a maximum output of 178 hp instead of 196 hp—Toyota did not officially explain the reason.

The next Corolla has already been shown as a concept at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025: it was designed by Toyota’s European design center, and the range of powertrains promises hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and an electric vehicle. The concept was shown as a sedan; whether there will be a wagon in the new generation, Toyota has not yet said.

Touring Sport in Ukraine and accessories

In Toyota’s official Ukrainian lineup, the Corolla Hybrid is offered without a separate Touring Sports version, so wagons in Ukraine are mostly cars imported from Europe. In the UK, according to What Car?, the recommended price of the Touring Sports starts from £32 155. To compare with other body styles, see our reviews of the updated Corolla hatchback and the Corolla sedan 2023.

For the wagon, the first priority is to take care of the trunk. The catalog includes trunk mats for Corolla 2019+, including Stingray 3D specifically for the wagon body—in two versions, for the lower and upper position of the false floor. Before ordering, check which level the floor is set to in your car. The rest of the accessories—wind deflectors, trim pieces, roof racks—are collected on the page tuning Toyota Corolla 2019+.

We deliver via Nova Poshta across all of Ukraine; orders from 15 000 ₴ are delivered free of charge by our own transport.
