Audi suspend car sales, with petrol engines

Audi has decided to temporarily suspend sales of the A5 and A4 models with 2.0 and 3.0 liter TFSI petrol engines. This also applies to the sports versions of the S5 and S4. The main reason for this decision lies in fuel consumption.

Stopping sales of models with V6 gasoline units will allow the German company to introduce new software. Due to it, Audi cars will be able to show completely different, lower fuel consumption results. Also, the new implementation will significantly improve power transmission in various driving modes. For example, using the "Dynamic" mode, the response of the motor will be felt more sharply, and the car will show better dynamics.

In addition, Audi plans to install a new 2.0 TFSI hybrid unit, which will contribute to lower fuel consumption. Many manufacturers claim that fuel consumption is about 10% lower. While Audi cars burn only 0.2 liters less fuel per hundred kilometers during tests. The concern's engineers explain that the device does not work properly during tests, but in real operation this figure is much lower.

However, in order to proceed with the modernization of cars, Audi must wait for approval from the German authorities to implement new changes. Then it is necessary to determine the correct fuel consumption readings and wait for the corresponding directive from the EU countries for the sale of cars. The process of certification of new solutions can take 1-2 months.
