Frequently asked questions
Are the mounting brackets included with the side steps?
In most model-specific kits, yes: Erkul aluminum side steps are listed as “2 running boards, bracket set,” and CAN tubes include a mounting kit. See the product specifications for the exact contents.
Do I need to drill the body to install the side steps?
Model-specific side steps are mounted with brackets into the factory mounting points under the body, so usually no drilling or welding is needed. In some cases, you may need to remove or trim the factory lower plastic, depending on the model.
Which is better — side tubes or a platform?
A tube is more compact and protrudes less beyond the vehicle width, but it is less convenient as a step. A platform provides a wider flat support: for Erkul side steps, the width ranges from about 10 cm (Maya) to about 14 cm.
How do Maya V1 and Maya V2, Bosphore Black and Grey differ?
These are design options of the same profile: they differ in the top finish and color. Bosphore Black is completely black, Grey has a gray element, and Maya Red and Maya Blue have a colored stripe on top.
Will short-wheelbase side steps fit a long-wheelbase vehicle?
No. The side step length and bracket placement depend on the wheelbase, so for vans and minivans the name indicates “short wheelbase,” L1 or XS. Choose a side step for your wheelbase.
Can you jack up the car by the side steps?
No. The side step is designed to be stepped on, not to support the car’s weight. Use the factory jacking points for a jack.
