Your electric car won't run out of battery suddenly and without warning. It will start signaling low battery levels in advance, gradually reducing power and turning off secondary systems. Many models have a so-called "limp home" mode, which allows you to drive a few more kilometers at minimum speed to the nearest charging point. Don't ignore these signals.

If the electric vehicle has completely stopped due to lack of charge, follow these steps:

• Stop safely: Try to pull over to the side of the road or to the safest possible location. Turn on your hazard lights.
• Turn off unnecessary things: Turn off climate control, multimedia, and other energy-intensive consumers to save the last bits of energy.
• Assess the situation: Use your smartphone to find the nearest charging stations or roadside services.

• Mobile charging: Some roadside assistance services (e.g. car clubs or dealerships) offer an on-site "top-up" service for electric vehicles. This will provide a minimum charge to reach a stationary charger.
• Tow truck: The most reliable and safest way. Be sure to inform the dispatcher that you have an electric vehicle. A fully loaded tow truck (platform) is used to transport them to avoid damage to the electric motor and transmission during towing.
