Frequently asked questions
Does a new hood need to be painted?
Aluminum and steel hoods come unpainted and are painted to match the body color: some are already primed, while others require priming — this is indicated in the product specifications. Carbon hoods are bought for the carbon fiber pattern, so they are usually not painted.
Will the hood fit the factory mounting points, and who sets the gaps?
Hoods are made to match the geometry of a specific body and mount on the factory hinges and latch. Before painting, the hood should be test-fitted, and the gaps with the fenders, headlights, and bumper are set by a body shop specialist. Installation is also available at the DD Tuning network of certified service centers — the manager will suggest the nearest one.
What is included with the hood?
The kit includes the hood itself. The hinges, latch, seals, and insulation are transferred from the factory hood; for example, the aluminum hood for Mercedes GLS X166 is supplied without insulation.
What is the difference between V1, V2, and V3 hoods for the same car?
These are different hood design options for the same body. Sometimes the version also differs in material: for BMW X5 G05 and X6 G06, the V3 version is made of forged carbon, while for BMW 5 Series G30, the same F90-style hood is available in both regular and forged carbon.
How can I make sure the hood will fit my car?
Check the make, model, and years in the product name: for pre-facelift and facelift versions, different hoods are often available. If the year is transitional or the body has already been modified, send the manager the year, version, and VIN — compatibility will be checked for the specific car.
