Restyling the Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV by replacing the front bumper
The Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV has a recognizable design, but the front end of early versions of the model can look restrained over time compared to later facelift versions. In this project, the main goal was to refresh the vehicle’s appearance by replacing the front bumper with a facelift kit.
For the work, we used a restyling kit for Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon. The new parts were test-fitted, prepared, painted, and installed on the vehicle. The work was carried out in Chernivtsi at the partner certified service station ZUBRYN AUTO STUDIO.
What does replacing the front bumper on the Pajero Wagon IV achieve?
The front bumper is one of the key elements that shape a vehicle’s appearance. Its geometry determines how modern, substantial, or aggressive the front end looks.
In the case of the Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV, replacing the bumper makes it possible to noticeably refresh the design without a full conversion. The front end becomes more modern, the lower section looks more cohesive, and the overall silhouette becomes more expressive.
This is a good option for owners who want to update the vehicle without major bodywork or a complete switch to another generation.
Which kit was used?
The project was based on a Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon restyling kit designed to update the front end of the vehicle.
Before ordering such a kit, it’s important to consider the production year of the specific Pajero, the trim level, the presence of parking sensors, headlight washers, decorative inserts, and other elements integrated into the front bumper.
Proper compatibility checks before work begins help avoid modifications at the final installation stage.
Test fitting before painting
Before painting, the new bumper must be test-fitted on the vehicle. At this stage, the mounting points and its position relative to the fenders, headlights, grille, and other adjacent parts are checked.
The test fit is what allows you to assess the kit’s geometry and, if necessary, adjust the fitment. Doing this after painting is undesirable, since any refinement can damage the finished paintwork.
Painting the new bumper
After a successful test fit, the part is prepared for painting. The surface is cleaned, leveled if needed, primed, and prepared for applying the base color.
It’s important to match the shade to the body as precisely as possible, since the front bumper has a large surface area and any color difference will be clearly visible.
After painting, coverage uniformity, clearcoat texture, and color match to the adjacent body elements are checked.
How did the installation go?
After preparation and painting, the factory front bumper was removed and the new facelift part was installed on the vehicle.
During installation, special attention was paid to even gaps between the bumper, fenders, headlights, and other parts. Mounting points and correct installation of decorative elements were also checked.
The quality of this kind of restyling directly depends on installation accuracy. If the bumper sits crooked or has uneven gaps, even a well-painted part won’t look like an OEM solution.
Cost of the Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV restyling
The cost of the restyling kit for Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon in this project was 24 750 UAH. Installation cost — 3 000 UAH, painting — 5 000 UAH.

What changed after the bumper replacement?
After the work was completed, the front end of the Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV began to look more modern and expressive. The new bumper changed the perception of the entire vehicle, even though the main body remained unchanged.
- the front end became visually more modern;
- the geometry of the lower part of the bumper changed;
- the vehicle gained a more cohesive look;
- the restyling was done without a complete body rebuild;
- the update preserved the signature design of the Pajero Wagon IV.
Who is this restyling for?
Replacing the front bumper is suitable for Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV owners who want to noticeably refresh the vehicle without extensive tuning.
This is especially relevant if the technical condition of the car is fully satisfactory, but you want the exterior to look more modern. In that case, updating the front end delivers one of the most noticeable results.
This option can also make sense after damage to the old bumper, when instead of restoring the factory part the owner wants to refresh the vehicle’s design at the same time.
Result of the Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV restyling
As a result of replacing the front bumper, the Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon IV received a noticeably fresher look without a radical change to the body. The main effect was achieved through the new front-end geometry and professional color-matched painting.
This project shows that to update the Pajero Wagon IV, it’s not necessary to install a full body kit. A well-selected and properly installed facelift bumper alone can significantly change the character of the vehicle.
