Nissan Pixo is a new electric A-segment city hatchback that Nissan unveiled on September 23, 2026 for the European market. It is a “twin” of the Renault Twingo E-Tech: 3,796 mm long, a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, a 60 kW (82 hp) motor, and a WLTP range of 259 km. Compared with the Twingo, it differs through its own “pixel” front-end and light design and 50 kW DC fast charging in every trim. Pixo will be built at Renault’s plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, and the first customers will receive their cars in early 2027.

What Nissan Pixo is and where the name comes from

Pixo is the smallest and most affordable EV in Nissan’s European lineup, positioned below the Micra. The model was developed together with Renault on the same platform as the new Twingo E-Tech, while the exterior design was created by Nissan Design Europe in London. Ahead of the premiere, the car was expected to be called Wave, but Nissan chose the name Pixo — a nod to pixels, which became the main styling theme.

The name is not new for Nissan: in 2009–2013, Pixo was already sold in Europe, and back then it was a rebadged Suzuki Alto with a gasoline engine. The new generation takes from the old one only the name and the city runabout format.

“Pixo proves that big things can come in small packages,” as lead exterior designer Masato Koyama described the model’s idea. Nissan positions Pixo as a car created specifically for European cities, where overall dimensions, turning radius, and everyday ease of use matter.

How Pixo differs from the Renault Twingo

Under the body, Pixo and Twingo are almost identical: a shared platform, battery, electric motor, and most of the interior. They differ in appearance and standard charging equipment.

  • Front end. Instead of the Twingo’s round headlights, there are square units with diagonal LED “pixel” graphics, a taller and more upright hood, and a grille-less front with dark trim around the central air intake. Nissan calls this bumper the “robot face.” There is no asymmetrical vent motif like on the Twingo.
  • Rear. Unique taillights with a pixel pattern and a tiny smiley inside, plus separate rear bumper trim. Carscoops reviewers noticed references in the lights to the Nissan Micra K12 from the 2000s.
  • Wheels and colors. Wheels with a “pixel” design and two new colors — Wonder Purple and Gear Blue.
  • Charging. On Pixo, 50 kW DC fast charging and an 11 kW AC onboard charger come on every trim. On the Twingo, both are part of the optional Advanced Charge package; standard there is 6.6 kW from AC.

What the dimensions are and how much space there is inside

Pixo is 3,796 mm long, 1,790 mm wide without mirrors, 1,512 mm tall, and has a 2,492 mm wheelbase. The wheels are pushed almost to the corners of the body: front overhang is 741 mm, rear is only 563 mm. Turning circle is 9.9 m, so the car can turn around where most crossovers need a three-point maneuver. Ground clearance is 140 mm.

The main practical highlight is the independent rear seats that slide back and forth. You can give more legroom to rear passengers or increase trunk space. In the basic position, it holds 356 l by the VDA method; with the seats folded — 1 221 l. There is also a separate 50 l compartment for charging cables so they do not take up the main trunk, and 18 l of various storage bins in the cabin.

What battery it has, the range, and how fast it charges

Pixo is offered with one powertrain: a front electric motor rated at 60 kW (82 hp) and a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. WLTP range is 259 km. Nissan has not yet announced torque, acceleration, or top speed; on the technically identical Twingo these are 175 N·m, 12.1 s to 100 km/h, and 130 km/h.

  • Fast charging: up to 50 kW DC, 15 to 80% in about 28 minutes.
  • AC charging: 11 kW, with support for bidirectional mode.
  • Regeneration: One Pedal (e-Pedal) mode — in the city you can accelerate and slow down with one pedal.

For a city with two or three trips a day, 259 km is enough for several days without recharging. Pixo was not created for the highway: 50 kW is modest fast-charging power, and the small battery loses some real-world range in freezing weather.

What’s inside and the tech features

The dashboard, steering wheel, switches, and infotainment are taken from the Twingo. The driver gets a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and in the center there is a 10-inch touchscreen with built-in Google services and the Gemini assistant. Climate is controlled with physical knobs, not only through the screen. Compared with the Twingo, the Pixo cabin differs in trim details, including red rings around the air vents.

Unusual for the class is face-based driver recognition that adapts settings to a specific person, and the MyNissan app for navigation, planning routes with charging stops, and remote control of vehicle functions. According to Carscoops, 23 pixel-themed “Easter eggs” are hidden throughout the exterior and interior.

The list of driver aids is extensive for a car this size: automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, as well as an automatic parking system.

When Pixo will go on sale

Nissan will announce prices, trims for individual markets, and the start of pre-orders from December 2026, and customer deliveries will begin in early 2027. The model was created specifically for Europe — in Japan, Pixo will not be offered for now. Nissan has not reported an official launch of Pixo in Ukraine: in press releases, our market is not mentioned.

Which accessories will fit the Pixo

There are no model-specific accessories for Pixo yet: templates for a new car appear after sales start, and floor mats from previous generations of the Twingo will not fit — the floor is different. For the first season, a practical option is universal rubber floor mats with a raised edge, which hold meltwater, snow, and salt. Be sure to secure the driver’s mat and check for full pedal travel, especially if you often drive in one-pedal mode. For the 356 l trunk, a polyurethane 900×700 mm cargo mat will fit — before buying, measure the floor with the rear seats in the position you need. To keep small items from sliding around in the compact trunk, a organizer bag is handy. Accessories for other models of the brand are in the Nissan tuning section.
