Why do you need fog lights?

The car is equipped with different types of headlights, each of which performs its important function. What is the power of fog lights?

Fog lights differ from dipped beam:

• Location. PTFs are located below the headlights, closer to the road.
• Spectrum of light. PTFs emit a wide, downward beam of light with a (usually) yellowish tint.

Why do you need fog lights?

• Break through the fog. Yellow light diffuses better through fog, illuminating the road ahead.
• To see and be seen. In rain, snow or dust, PTF improves visibility for the driver and the car from the oncoming direction.
• Additional light on unlit tracks. PTF can be used in conjunction with low beam for better roadside illumination.

Fog lights are not a panacea

• Not the headlights. PTFs are not intended for the main lighting of the road in the dark. Their use instead of dipped beam blinds drivers of oncoming traffic.

Remember:

• Turn on the PTF only in fog, heavy rain, snow or dust.
• Turn off PTF when visibility improves.
• Use together with dipped beam or marker lights.
