Smart #2 is a production two-seat electric city model from Smart measuring under three meters in length; its world premiere will take place at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026. According to the brand’s preliminary data, the battery has a capacity of about 35.8 kWh, and the target range is roughly 300 km on the WLTP cycle. The press expects European sales in 2027; there is no official date yet.

What Smart #2 is and why people are talking about it
The “#2” name continues the Smart #1, #3, and #5 lineup. The new model is the direct successor to the two-seat Smart fortwo: two seats, a short wheelbase, and wheels pushed out to the corners of the body so that more cabin space remains within compact dimensions. The brand showed a concept called Concept #2 in Beijing in April 2026, and it will debut the production version in Paris. The car is built on the new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform—an architecture developed specifically for ultra-compact electric vehicles.
Smart has not yet published final European data: the figures below come from the brand’s technical briefing and from Chinese regulatory documents, and the brand calls them preliminary and subject to homologation.
Which specifications have already been announced
| Parameter | Value | Status |
| Seats | 2 | confirmed by the brand |
| Length | up to 3 m; various sources cite 2,751–2,792 mm | brand: “under 3 m”; the exact figure depends on the version |
| Turning circle | 6.95 m | stated by the brand |
| Battery | about 35.8 kWh (some outlets write 35.7), CATL cells, LFP chemistry | preliminary |
| Range | about 300 km WLTP | target, not certified |
| Fast charging | 10–80% in about 20 minutes | stated |
| Motor | about 60 kW (80 hp), rear-wheel drive | per a Chinese registration file, not confirmed for Europe |
| Weight | about 1,130 kg | per press reports |
The difference between 35.7 and 35.8 kWh is due to rounding: outlets that attended Smart’s technical briefing quote 35.8, others 35.7. For choosing a car, that is a difference of a few kilometers, but in the text we list both values until an official press release is published.
How Smart #2 charges and how far it goes
About 300 km on WLTP is the figure for the combined cycle, but for a two-seat city car the key number is different: how far it will go between charges in the city. With daily trips to work and to the store, that is enough for a week or more. The claimed 20 minutes for charging from 10 to 80% means that at a fast station you can make it back in time for your coffee. With a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, it is worth remembering winter: a cold LFP pack accepts current more slowly, so real-world charging speed in winter will be lower than the stated figure.
What is known about safety, drivetrain, and suspension
- The motor is mounted at the rear and drive is rear-wheel; the power electronics unit is combined into a single “11-in-1” module.
- Weight distribution is 50/50; the rear suspension is an independent five-link setup.
- Tires on all versions are different sizes front and rear: the front tires are narrower. This means you cannot swap tires diagonally as on a regular car.
- Body: over 78% high-strength steel, an updated Tridion Cell safety cage, seven airbags, roof load of over four tons.
When Smart #2 will appear in Europe and what about the price
Smart promises to announce the final price, final specifications, and the sales start date at the premiere on October 12. The press estimates the price in Europe at roughly €20,000 to €22,500, and the start of sales in 2027. These are media estimates, not manufacturer data. Assembly, according to reports, will be handled by Geely in China; the brand has not yet said whether production will appear in Europe.
Smart #2 is one of several new electric hatchbacks that will be shown in Paris; we covered another one, the Leapmotor B03, in a separate article: Leapmotor A05 (B03 for Europe). For even more news about new cars, see the car news section.
Which floor mats will fit the two-seat Smart #2
The model has not been released yet, so there are no model-specific mats for it in the catalog for now. The floor of a two-seat car is small and simple, so for the initial period the most practical solution is EVA sheets you can cut yourself: universal mats and EVA sheets. Ready-made model-specific EVA mats are sewn to patterns for a specific car, so it is best to choose them once the model appears in the catalog. For previous generations of fortwo there are separate sections: accessories for Smart.
We deliver via Nova Poshta throughout Ukraine.
How to cut a floor mat from an EVA sheet for a two-seater car
- Make a template Place cardboard or a large sheet of paper on the floor and trace the driver’s foot area, leaving a 1–2 cm margin from each edge and the pedal assembly.
- Transfer the outline to EVA Place the template on the sheet and trace it with a marker. Choose the pattern (“diamond,” “honeycomb,” “drop”) so that it runs the same on the left and right mats.
- Cut along the line Cut with a sharp knife or scissors in one pass without lifting your hand, so the edge comes out even.
- Test fit and trim Place the mat in position and check that it does not interfere with the pedals and does not bend upward near the sill. Trim the edges if necessary.
- Secure it Check that the mat does not move under your feet. If the car has factory fasteners, use them; if there are none, choose a non-slip backing.
