New second-generation Hyundai Bayon: what we know ahead of the Paris debut on October 12

The new second-generation Hyundai Bayon will be unveiled on 12 October 2026 at the Paris Motor Show: Hyundai Motor Europe has announced a world premiere of a new B-segment crossover on that date, and the brand’s Indian division is already publishing official teasers under the name Bayon. Series production in Türkiye will start in December 2026 with petrol and hybrid versions. Judging by the teasers and spy shots, today’s Bayon with its “hatchback-like” proportions will give way to a larger and noticeably “squarer” SUV. We break down what is officially confirmed and what is still only expected.
Illustrations for the article are renders styled like spy shots: this is what the camouflaged prototypes look like. There are no real photos of the production car before 12 October.

When the new Hyundai Bayon will be shown and when it will go on sale
Hyundai Motor Europe’s press conference is scheduled for Monday, 12 October 2026, at 15:05 in Hall 5.2 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. In a press release dated 21 September, the brand promises a world premiere of a new B-segment SUV, a European premiere of a new C-segment SUV, a sporty version of one of its key models, and its first electric light commercial vehicle. The European release does not name the models, but the press is unanimous: the B-SUV is the new Bayon, and the C-SUV is the fifth-generation Tucson. We have compiled a separate overview of all the show premieres — Paris Motor Show 2026.
Production timing was named by Hyundai Motor Türkiye CEO Murat Berkel on 15 June 2026: series assembly of the new Bayon at the Izmit plant will begin in December, with cars exported as the 2027 model year. According to French media estimates, the new model will reach dealers in Europe in early 2027. Hyundai has not announced prices yet.
What Hyundai has already officially confirmed
- Premiere date and location — 12 October 2026, Paris (Hyundai Motor Europe press release, 21.09.2026).
- Name and global status. Hyundai India calls the new model Bayon and describes it as a “global SUV.” The current generation was sold mainly in Europe; the new one will also be launched in India and, according to the press, in Latin America.
- Plant and powertrains. Assembly in Izmit from December 2026, internal combustion and hybrid versions (Murat Berkel, CNBC-e).
- Design details from the teasers: H-shaped light signature at the front, slim rear lights extending far onto the sides, roof rails, black A-pillars, a window line that rises toward the rear.
Everything else — dimensions, output, equipment, prices — so far comes from spy shots and media publications.
What the second-generation Bayon will look like
Photographers caught camouflaged prototypes as early as January 2026 during winter testing near the Arctic Circle, and in summer — on the roads of Southern Europe. In the images, the silhouette is much squarer than on the current model: the hood and roof are almost horizontal, and the front and rear are more upright. This is the Art of Steel style that Hyundai is already bringing to its new crossovers.
The daytime running lights are now slim and positioned high, while the main headlights have dropped into the bumper — a layout like the new Tucson. The wheel arches have wide plastic cladding, and the lower parts of the bumpers feature massive protective “skid plates.” According to Rushlane, one of the official teasers shows a two-tone alloy wheel with a 215/55 R17 tyre. Hyundai has not shown the interior yet: a sketch reveals a continuous screen panel from the steering wheel to the center of the dashboard, and the press writes about two 12.3-inch displays and retained physical climate controls.
Which engines are expected
Officially, only “petrol and hybrid.” The rest is journalists’ versions. Carscoops and Rushlane expect a new 1.2-liter turbo engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, as well as a full hybrid of around 140 hp with a 7-speed dual-clutch “robot” — linked to the first-ever Bayon N Line version. The Paris Motor Show website mondial.paris also mentions a 1.0-liter turbo engine up to 120 hp and a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated unit; gearboxes — a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT; drive is front-wheel only. A fully electric Bayon is not expected: Hyundai has separate models for that niche. For India, a simpler 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine of around 114 hp with a CVT is being prepared.

What this means for owners of the current Bayon
The new generation means a new body, so model-specific accessories for the 2021–2026 Bayon most likely will not carry over: different doors, a different window profile, a different cabin floor. At the same time, the current Bayon remains on sale until the end of production, and the range for it is already established — from Bayon window deflectors on double-sided tape to model-specific Bayon floor mats made of EVA, rubber, and textile, cut to fit the factory mounting points. You can protect the plastic and paint at the cabin entry with door sill covers — including universal ones, so they will also come in handy on the new car. Everything for the model is collected on the Hyundai Bayon tuning page.
For the second generation, model-specific deflectors and mats will appear after sales begin, when precise templates of the doors and cabin are available.
