What Audi showed and when
The A2 name returned after more than 20 years: the original aluminum A2 was produced in 1999–2005. The new A2 e-tron is a fully electric compact hatchback that Audi calls its entry into the compact-class electric lineup. CEO Gernot Döllner called it at the presentation “the most efficient Audi we have ever built.”
Timeline: On September 7, 2026, Audi published a press release with technical data; on September 8, Döllner presented the car to the press in Paris; on September 10, order intake opened. At the Paris Motor Show on October 12, the A2 e-tron appeared before the public for the first time. It is produced in Ingolstadt; Audi writes that the model reached the assembly line 21 months faster than comparable predecessors—partly thanks to using more than 1,200 pieces of existing plant equipment, including about 250 robots.
The model’s key number is efficiency. The 140 kW version with the efficiency package consumes 12.8 kWh per 100 km (WLTP), and the drag coefficient is 0.24. For a hatchback 1.55 m tall, that is a very low figure.
Which versions and batteries the A2 e-tron has
All four versions are rear-wheel drive, with a single permanent-magnet synchronous motor (APP350 or APP550). There is no quattro all-wheel drive in the lineup at launch. Batteries come in two chemistries: 52 and 61 kWh are lithium iron phosphate (LFP) in a cell-to-pack layout; 84 kWh is a nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) modular pack, only for the two higher versions. Capacities are stated gross; for the 84 kWh battery, ADAC cites 79 kWh net.
| Version | 125 kW | 140 kW | 170 kW | 240 kW |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power | 170 hp | 190 hp | 231 hp | 326 hp |
| Torque | 350 N·m | 350 N·m | 350 N·m | 545 N·m |
| Battery (gross) | 52 kWh, LFP | 61 kWh, LFP | 84 kWh, NMC | 84 kWh, NMC |
| WLTP range | up to 423 km | up to 515 km | up to 646 km | up to 630 km |
| WLTP consumption | from 13.7 kWh/100 km | from 12.8 kWh/100 km | from 13.9 kWh/100 km | from 14.2 kWh/100 km |
| 0–100 km/h | 8.8 s | 7.9 s | 7.0 s | 5.7 s |
| Top speed | 160 km/h | 160 km/h | 160 km/h | 200 km/h |
The longest-range is the 170 kW version: 646 km (WLTP). The top 240 kW version is heavier on the road and goes a bit less—up to 630 km—but accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and has a “ceiling” of 200 km/h instead of 160. Regeneration is switched with steering-wheel paddles: three deceleration levels from −0.6 to −1.5 m/s².
How fast it charges
Maximum DC charging power depends on the battery: 100 kW for the 125 kW version, 105 kW for the 140 kW version, and 183 kW for the versions with the 84 kWh battery. Charging from 10 to 80% takes, according to Audi, 24, 26 and 29 minutes respectively (in the Q&A section of the press release, 25 minutes is quoted for the 61 kWh battery—an inconsistency within Audi’s own materials).
The A2 e-tron supports bidirectional charging. The power supply for external devices (V2L) is optionally available, and in Germany, Austria and Switzerland—home power supply (V2H) via a compatible DC charging station. The car powers the home only within a charge range of 20 to 80%.
Dimensions, trunk and interior
According to ADAC, the A2 e-tron is 4,324 mm long, 1,789 mm wide without mirrors (2,039 mm with mirrors), 1,548 mm tall, and has a 2,768 mm wheelbase (Audi rounds it to 2.77 m). So it is no longer a microvan the size of the original A2, but a full-fledged compact hatchback in the Volkswagen ID.3 class.
- Trunk: 396 L; with the rear seatbacks folded: 1,336 L.
- Front compartment (frunk) of 13 L—standard on the 170 and 240 kW versions.
- Wheels from 18 to 20 inches, tires 225–235 mm wide.
- 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a curved 12.8-inch MMI touchscreen.
- Optional panoramic glass roof of about 1.6 m².
- Pad for two smartphones with wireless charging up to 25 W; in the doors—bottle pockets for up to 1.25 L.
There are two exterior design variants: base and S line. The suspension is comfort, sport, or with adaptive dampers. Audi separately emphasizes more than 300 parts made from recycled materials in the construction.
How much it costs and when deliveries start
Audi prices for Germany:
- 125 kW, 52 kWh battery—starting from €38,200;
- version with the 61 kWh battery—from €41,900;
- 170 kW, 84 kWh battery—from €48,900;
- 240 kW—from €51,200.
In some publications ahead of the premiere, a starting price of €38,350 was mentioned, while the French press cites around €38,600 for France—prices vary by country. Orders in Europe are accepted from September 10, 2026, deliveries from December 2026. Audi has not announced official data on sales in Ukraine. The model will not be offered in the USA—the A2 e-tron was developed specifically for Europe.
What changed versus the rumors ahead of the premiere
In September we wrote about the return of the Audi A2 in the form of an electric car based on information known before the premiere: at that time, there was talk of one 140 kW version and a battery of around 61 kWh. Now the picture is complete: there are four versions, three batteries, the largest being an 84 kWh NMC pack, and the record 646 km is delivered not by the base version but by the 170 kW version. The dimensions, trunk and prices that were not available then are also now known.
Other show debuts are in our round-up of the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
Accessories for the A2 e-tron
There are no model-specific accessories for the A2 e-tron yet—the car is not on the roads yet, and patterns for mats and parts are taken from the production vehicle. Until then, universal mats will work for the interior: rubber ones with a rim hold water and snow, and a 1000×1200 mm trunk mat matches the cargo area of a compact hatchback in size. Products for the old A2 (1999–2005) are collected on the Audi A2 page, and the rest of the brand’s models are in the Audi tuning section.
We ship via Nova Poshta throughout Ukraine.
