Do-it-yourself car door soundproofing

In this article, you will learn how to perform soundproofing (damping) of car doors and, accordingly, improve the sound quality in a car with your own hands using Dynamat materials , which have already been written about in previous materials.

Dynamat Door Kit

Using material from the Dynamat Door Kit is the best and only way to effectively upgrade your car audio system. Dynamat Door Kit will help you get rid of rattling doors, eliminate distortion due to speaker panel vibration and increase the dynamic range of your audio system. Door damping is an integral part of creating a competitive audio system. The Dynamat installation process is described below.

Installation process

For the qualitative performance of this work, we recommend that you follow a certain sequence:

1. Remove the trim from the door and clean the surface. Remove the door panel, plastic waterproofing, handles and take out the speakers.
2. Stick Dynamat Xtreme on the inside of the outer door wall, after cutting the material along
   size and shape of flat surfaces. Sticking the material, move from top to bottom. This will create a barrier to outside noise. This operation is recommended to be carried out with gloves and using a roller.
3. Apply Dynaxorb to the areas behind the speaker on the inside of the outer wall of the door. It dampens the energy of the speaker's return wave, resulting in a significantly improved sound quality.

4. For optimum sound quality and to strengthen the door structure, seal large holes in the cab-facing door surface with Dynaplate. Dynaplate is an extremely strong and lightweight material. You can paste over the entire panel or stick only holes, capturing 2.5-4 cm of the metal surface. For best results, apply two layers.

   NOTE: Just don't interfere with the mechanical functioning of the door, eg opening/closing windows, locks. Check and recheck the result to ensure that these mechanisms are working properly.

5. Coat the cab facing surface of the door with Dynamat Xtreme Door Kit over Dynaplate. This will help eliminate distortion due to speaker panel vibration, maximize mid-bass performance, and increase amplifier efficiency by reducing vehicle noise. Again, do not interfere with the mechanical functioning of the door, eg opening/closing windows, locks. Check and recheck the result to ensure that these mechanisms are working properly.
6. Apply TacMat over Dynamat Xtreme. The latter requires the use of glue. A sticky spray is recommended. Roll down the window before spraying. Be careful not to get glue on glass or other surfaces. You can pre-paste them with a protective tape. TacMat can further reduce road noise and maximize sound quality.
7. Finally install the speakers and door trim. Now you have a big advantage. You will be able to achieve incredible sound!

With the help of such simple actions, you can significantly reduce the noise of the car and improve the sound quality of the audio system.
