How to properly use car lights?

Lighting devices are an integral part of safe driving. They not only help the driver see the road in the dark and in poor visibility, but also inform other road users about his intentions. Correct use of car lighting

Side lights:

• Function: Mark the dimensions of the car in the dark and in poor visibility.
• Use: They are turned on when stopping, parking on an unlit road, as well as when driving in the dark and in conditions of insufficient visibility.

Daytime Running Lights (DRL):

• Function: Provide visibility of the car during the day.
• Use: They are switched on instead of low beam headlights during daylight hours. Important: In Ukraine, from October 1 to May 1, DHVs must be turned on outside of populated areas.

Dipped headlights:

• Function: Illuminates the road in front of the car in the dark and in poor visibility.
• Use: Turns on in the dark and in conditions of insufficient visibility.

Main beam:

• Function: Illuminates the road for a long distance.
• Usage: Turns on outside of populated areas in the absence of oncoming and passing traffic.

Fog lights:

• Function: Increase road visibility in conditions of fog, snowfall or heavy rain.
• Use: Turn on when visibility is poor due to fog, snowfall or heavy rain.

Rear fog lights:

• Function: Inform drivers behind about the movement of your car in conditions of poor visibility.
• Usage: Turn on in conditions of fog, snowfall or heavy rain.

Emergency alarm:

• Function: Informs about a forced stop, accident, danger.
• Use: Turns on during a forced stop, accident, towing, as well as when boarding/disembarking passengers in places with limited visibility.

Remember:

• Do not use the main beam in populated areas, as well as with oncoming and passing traffic.
• Do not use fog lights unless absolutely necessary, as they can dazzle other drivers.
• Turn on the low beam of the headlights when visibility is insufficient.
