New Land Rover Defender will receive an electric version

British car manufacturer Land Rover is planning to release an electric version of the famous Defender SUV. It became known today, thanks to foreign reporters who refer to their own sources of information.

In the early autumn of the current year, the company Land Rover announced its plans for the electrification of new models of cars that will be produced from 2020 onward. Machine equipped with various electrical installations for their productive characteristics.

At the moment we are actively working with British engineers on electric versions of such vehicles as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. These models will be classified as a PHEV. This powerplant combines a gasoline turbocharged engine capacity of 2.0 liters and an electric motor. The total capacity is equal to 398 horsepower, and driving range of the electric range is 50 km.

After the above models, it would be the turn for the Evoque and Defender. The first car is likely to get 1.5-liter fuel motor. The company's engineers claim that the electric motor does not mean the deterioration of any off-road or other characteristics. These cars will be all the same endurance and can overcome many obstacles.

SUV Land Rover Defender will be invented on the aluminum platform. In the engine range will appear Ingenium engines developed by JLR employees of the company, and the model will be sold worldwide.
