Aion GS7 is a large five-seat plug-in hybrid from the GAC group, about 4.9 m long, which Aion’s UK arm has confirmed for sale in the United Kingdom in 2027. According to Auto Express, it will have a 36.3 kWh traction battery and nearly 80 miles (about 130 km) of electric-only range. In fact, it is not an entirely new car: in China it has been sold since March 2025 as the Trumpchi S7, and in September 2026 it entered the UAE market under the name GAC GS7. The European version, according to the British press, will be shown at the Paris Motor Show on 12–18 October 2026.

What the Aion GS7 is and where it came from
GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group) is one of China’s largest automakers. At home it has several brands: Trumpchi produces cars with petrol and hybrid engines, while Aion builds EVs. In the UK, the group operates under the Aion name: the brand officially launched there in April 2026 with the Aion V electric crossover, and the compact Aion UT is already alongside it. Therefore, the hybrid crossover that wears the Trumpchi badge in China will be called Aion GS7 in the UK lineup.
The base model is the Trumpchi Xiangwang S7. It was unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2024, sales in China began in March 2025, and 13,529 units were sold there in 2025. In other markets it is called GAC GS7. According to Aion’s UK arm, the crossover will be adapted for British roads—exactly what will be changed has not yet been specified.
In Aion’s UK plans, the GS7 is only the first step: by 2030 the brand promises eight new models, and over the next 18 months—GS7, the large Yue 7 SUV, and an updated version of one of its current models. Earlier we wrote about the group’s electric models, including the Aion LX Plus with a long range.
What we know about the hybrid system and range
The Chinese Trumpchi S7 has a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine producing 118 kW (158 hp) and 220 N·m, plus a 170 kW (228 hp) traction motor with 250 N·m on the front axle. In the all-wheel-drive version, an 80 kW (107 hp) rear electric motor is added. The batteries are lithium iron phosphate (LFP), with capacities of 21.3 or 36.3 kWh. The manufacturer estimates the petrol engine’s efficiency at 42.5%.
It is the all-wheel-drive version with the 36.3 kWh battery that is sold in the UAE: total output there is stated at 501 hp, and 0–100 km/h takes 5.8 s. In electric mode the crossover can travel up to 150 km on the NEDC cycle, and total range with a full tank and charged battery is up to 1,020 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle. At home, the front-wheel-drive version with the large battery delivers up to 205 km on electricity and up to 1,150 km total on CLTC, and the battery can be fast-charged from 30 to 80% in 17 minutes.
For Europe, the figures are still sparse: Auto Express mentions only the 36.3 kWh battery and “nearly 80 miles” of electric range, i.e. about 130 km. The difference from the Chinese 180–205 km is explained by measurement cycles: CLTC and NEDC are significantly more lenient than Europe’s WLTP. Power output, drivetrain and prices for Europe have not been officially announced.

How big it is and what’s inside
The British press compares the Aion GS7 in size to the Land Rover Discovery. The Chinese Trumpchi S7 is 4,900 mm long, 1,950 mm wide, 1,780 mm tall, with a 2,880 mm wheelbase; ground clearance in the UAE version is 200 mm. Curb weight ranges from 2,030 to 2,260 kg depending on the version. There are five seats, with no third row: instead there is a spacious second bench with legroom up to 1,058 mm and a cargo area that can hold up to 2,050 L with the backrests folded.
On the outside, the crossover is recognizable by the full-width light strip across the front: it is 2,618 mm long and consists of 2,248 LEDs. The rear pillar has illumination that shows the charging status. Inside the Chinese version there is an 8.88-inch instrument panel, a 15.6-inch central screen, a 27-inch head-up display, and a separate 17.3-inch ceiling screen for second-row passengers, plus a 22-speaker audio system. The UAE version received 20-inch wheels, Nappa leather with heating, ventilation and massage, and 10 airbags. What equipment the European Aion GS7 will have will become known after the premiere.
When the Aion GS7 will arrive in Europe and what we still don’t know
- 15 September 2026 — Aion UK confirmed to Auto Express that the GS7 will be launched in the UK in 2027.
- September 2026 — GAC GS7 PHEV went on sale in the UAE.
- 12–18 October 2026 — Paris Motor Show. GAC is taking stand A21 in hall 5.1 and promises to present its localization strategy in Europe, refreshed brand identity and a new product lineup. According to Auto Express, in Paris Aion will show two new models, and one of them is expected to be the GS7. Officially, GAC has not yet named the models for Paris—so for now this remains an expectation. What else will be shown at the exhibition, we collected in our overview of the Paris Motor Show 2026.
- 2027 — start of sales in the UK. There are no exact dates, prices or trims.
What remains unknown is the European version’s power output, WLTP range, towing capacity, price, and whether there will be a front-wheel-drive modification. The illustrations for the article are generated images of the GAC GS7 based on the official design description, not photos of the European Aion GS7.
What accessories a large crossover will need
There are no model-specific accessories for the Aion GS7 yet—the car is only being prepared for sale in Europe. But for a large family crossover there are items that are selected by size. For a roof with integrated rails, lockable crossbars are used—on them you can mount a roof box or bicycles. For the cabin with a large floor area, universal floor mats and a rubber trunk mat will work well, while the sills, which suffer first from shoes and road salt, will be protected by stainless-steel sill covers. Before buying, it is worth measuring the distance between the rails and the length of the sills on your car.
