BYD Atto 8 is a seven-seat electric crossover measuring 5.04 m in length, which BYD unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026 as its flagship SUV for Europe. Two versions: the rear-wheel-drive Design with 340 kW (462 hp) and a range of up to 653 km (WLTP), and the all-wheel-drive Excellence with 570 kW (775 hp) that accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. There is one battery — the second-generation Blade at 115 kWh — and with Flash Charging technology, charging from 10 to 97% takes 9 minutes. Sales in Europe start in the first quarter of 2027; prices have not yet been announced.

What BYD Atto 8 is and where it comes from
In China, this car is sold as the BYD Tang L — that’s what CarNewsChina calls it. For Europe, BYD gave it a name from the Atto lineup, which already includes Atto 2 and Atto 3, and placed the crossover at the top of its model range. On the Paris stand, Atto 8 stood alongside the Shark pickup and the updated Dolphin Surf; according to BYD, this is the brand’s first model in Europe with ultra-fast Flash Charging technology.
As competitors, the British press cites large seven-seat electric crossovers such as the Škoda Peaq. Other models from the brand are in the BYD tuning section.
Which versions and the range
Both versions have the same second-generation Blade battery at 115 kWh. The difference is in the number of motors and, accordingly, performance and range.
| Parameter | Atto 8 Design RWD | Atto 8 Excellence AWD |
|---|---|---|
| Drive | rear, one motor | all-wheel, two motors |
| Power | 340 kW (462 hp) | 570 kW (775 hp) |
| Torque | 365 N·m | 775 N·m |
| 0–100 km/h | 8.0 s | 4.6 s |
| Battery | 115 kWh, 2nd-generation Blade | 115 kWh, 2nd-generation Blade |
| WLTP range | up to 653 km | up to 602 km |
| Audio system | 10 speakers | DiSound, 21 speakers |
The power figures vary in the press: some outlets write 456 hp for the rear-wheel-drive version and 764 hp for the all-wheel-drive one, and TimesLIVE gives 652 km instead of 653. The table uses the figures from the BYD Europe press release. BYD has not yet announced top speed or permissible trailer weight; consumption and emissions data, as stated in the press release, are still undergoing verification.
How Flash Charging works
Atto 8’s main technical highlight is charging at BYD Flash Charging stations. According to BYD:
- from 10 to 70% — in 5 minutes;
- from 10 to 97% — in 9 minutes;
- at −30 °C, from 20 to 97% — in 12 minutes.
BYD does not state peak power in kilowatts in the European press release. An important limitation: these figures are achievable only at compatible Flash Charging stations. BYD has announced a plan to roll out 3,000 such stations in Europe by the end of 2027; on regular fast chargers the time will be longer, but there is no official data on this yet.
Dimensions, cargo space, and seven seats
Atto 8 is a large vehicle: length 5,040 mm, width 1,996 mm, height 1,760 mm. The wheelbase, according to CarNewsChina, is 2,950 mm. There are seven seats in three rows.
- Trunk with all seven seats in use — 270 L.
- With the second and third rows folded — up to 1,960 L.
- Front compartment (frunk) — 136 L.
- Panoramic glass roof — 2.39 m².
For a seven-seat vehicle, 270 L behind the third row is enough for a few bags or a foldable stroller, not suitcases for the whole family. That’s why, with a full load of passengers, some of the cargo will go in the front compartment or on the roof.
What’s inside
Both versions come with leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, heating, ventilation, and massage for the front seats, as well as for the outer seats of the second row. The driver gets a 10.25-inch digital cluster and a 26-inch widescreen head-up display, while the infotainment uses a 15.6-inch touchscreen. Between the front seats there is a compartment that cools down to −6 °C and heats up to 50 °C. For gadgets, there are two 50 W wireless charging pads, two 60 W USB-C ports up front, and two more in the rear (18 and 60 W).
When sales start and how much it will cost
Sales at BYD dealers in Europe will begin in the first quarter of 2027; some outlets write more broadly — “in the first half of the year.” BYD has not yet announced prices for Europe or country-specific trims, so any figures right now are guesses. There is no data on official Atto 8 sales in Ukraine.
The rest of the show’s premieres are collected in our Paris Motor Show 2026 wrap-up.
Accessories: what already fits
There are no dedicated accessories for the European Atto 8 yet, but the catalog already includes products for the Chinese BYD Tang L 2025– — the vehicle on which Atto 8 is based. These are floor mats for BYD Tang L: EVA for three rows, EVA trunk mats for the seven-seat configuration with the third row unfolded and with it folded, as well as side steps. Since there is no official data on body and interior differences for the European version, please confirm compatibility with a specific Atto 8 with a manager before ordering.
We deliver via Nova Poshta across Ukraine.
