Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid is Chery’s seven-seat flagship crossover, 4.81 m long, with a plug-in hybrid: a 1.5 L turbo petrol engine, electric motors, all-wheel drive and 428 PS of total system output, a 34.46 kWh battery and up to 140–147 km on electricity under WLTP. At the Paris Motor Show on 12–18 October 2026, Chery displayed it alongside the smaller Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid and announced that both models will arrive at Italian dealers in November 2026; in the UK, the Tiggo 9 has been on sale since October 2025.

What Chery showed in Paris
For Chery, Mondial de l'Auto 2026 was its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show: stand A91 in Hall 4 featured a fully electrified Tiggo line-up with its own CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) technology. Alongside the crossovers stood the Chery Q city EV and the Omoda 4 and Omoda 5 models, which are planned to launch in Italy in 2027. The stand’s main family-focused cars were two seven-seat plug-in hybrids: the flagship Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid and the more compact Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid.
It is worth clarifying the name, because it is easy to mix up. The European Tiggo 9 is the vehicle that was sold in China as the Tiggo 8L, and since September 2025, after an update, has been called the Tiggo 9X. The Chinese “Tiggo 9” is a different, separate model. In Europe (and in the UK), the crossover debuted in October 2025; now Chery is expanding its sales to continental markets. In France, where the brand’s sales started on 1 September 2026, the initial line-up does not include the Tiggo 9 — they offer the Tiggo 4, 7 and 8 there.
How the Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid is set up
The core of the powertrain is a 1.5 TGDi turbo petrol engine and a dedicated DHT hybrid transmission with three speeds. Together, the electric motors and the petrol engine deliver 428 PS and 580 Nm, with all-wheel drive. Sources describe the number of electric motors differently: Italian outlets (HDmotori, Autoblog, MotorBox) write about three electric units, while the British and German press mention two. Australian materials describe the layout as “three-motor all-wheel drive”; Chery has not published the exact power split between the axles for Europe.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, according to Chery, is 5.4 s — performance on the level of a powerful sporty crossover rather than a family seven-seater. There are six driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Sand and Off-Road. Towing capacity is up to 1,500 kg. Via an external socket (V2L), the car can supply up to 6.6 kW — enough for power tools or camping equipment.

How far the Tiggo 9 will go on electricity and on a full tank
The 34.46 kWh battery is located under the floor. At the Italian stand, Chery listed 140 km of electric range under WLTP and 1,050 km of total range; British and German figures cite up to 147 km on electricity and over 1,000 km combined with petrol (in the UK — 91 miles and over 650 miles). A difference of a few kilometres is normal for different market specifications and tyres.
For reference: in Australia, the same car was certified under the older NEDC cycle — 170 km on electricity and 1,250 km total. Those numbers are noticeably more optimistic and are not directly comparable with the European WLTP.
DC fast charging is up to 71 kW: from 30 to 80% the battery fills in about 18 minutes.
Dimensions, cabin and equipment
The Tiggo 9 is 4,810 mm long (some European materials cite 4.82 m), 1,925 mm wide and 1,741 mm high. The wheelbase in reference data is 2,770 mm; Germany’s auto motor und sport states 2,800 mm. The cabin is seven-seat in a 2+3+2 layout. Luggage capacity with the second and third rows folded is up to 2,065 L according to Italian data and 2,021 L according to British figures.
The European version comes in a single, fully loaded trim (in the UK — Summit). It includes a 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, 50 W cooled wireless charging, a 14-speaker Sony audio system with speakers in the driver’s headrest, 540° view cameras, automated parking and a power tailgate. The front seats have heating, ventilation and massage; the second row has heating and ventilation; rear passengers get separate climate control. There is also a “pet mode” that maintains the cabin temperature when a dog is left in the car.
How the Tiggo 9 differs from the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid
The Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid is the smaller seven-seater from the same hybrid family, but with front-wheel drive and lower output. At the Paris stand for Italy, Chery quoted 279 PS and 365 Nm for it, 90 km of electric range under WLTP and nearly 1,100 km of total range. In the UK, the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid has been on sale since September 2025 in a 204 PS and 365 Nm version with an 18.4 kWh battery — the electric range there is the same, 56 miles (90 km). The manufacturer did not explain the difference in output between the UK and Italian versions.
| Parameter | Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid | Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 4.81 m | 4.72 m |
| Seats | 7 (2+3+2) | 7 |
| Drive | all-wheel | front-wheel |
| Power / torque | 428 PS / 580 Nm | 279 PS / 365 Nm (Italy); 204 PS / 365 Nm (UK) |
| Battery | 34.46 kWh | 18.4 kWh (UK data) |
| On electricity, WLTP | 140–147 km | 90 km |
| Total range | 1,050 km | nearly 1,100 km |
| 0–100 km/h | 5.4 s | not announced for the Italian version |
| Price in the UK | from £43 105 | from £33 545 |
Simply put, the Tiggo 8 is for those who need seven seats and an efficient city cycle on electricity, while the Tiggo 9 is for those who travel long distances, tow a trailer, or want all-wheel drive and a battery that is twice as large. Chery uses the same hybrid setup with a 34.46 kWh battery in the five-seat Omoda 9 SHS as well.
When the Tiggo 9 goes on sale and how much it costs
In the UK, the Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid has been on sale since 23 October 2025 in a single Summit specification from £43 105; the first customers started receiving their cars in late January 2026. In late 2025, sales also started in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Greece. In Italy, the Tiggo 9 and Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid are expected to arrive at dealers in November 2026; prices for the Italian market had not been announced at the time of the show.

Which accessories are already available for the Tiggo 8 and what will fit the Tiggo 9
We do not yet have model-specific products for the Tiggo 9 in our catalogue — templates are taken once the car appears in Ukraine. For the Tiggo 8, there is already a selection: EVA mats for the Chery Tiggo 8 in six colours, and for the hybrid Tiggo 8 from 2025 — Stingray 3D rubber mats for the interior and a boot mat for the seven-seat version. EVA mats are especially practical in a seven-seat crossover: they are light, do not hold water and can be removed quickly, even from the third row.
For trips with luggage on the roof, there are crossbars for Tiggo 8 integrated roof rails, and in the Tiggo 8 wind deflectors section — rain guards with a chrome moulding. Before ordering for the European Super Hybrid version, check with a manager the rail type and door shape: updated versions may differ from the 2017 Tiggo 8. For the Tiggo 9, until model-specific kits appear, universal mats with raised edges will fit; all products for the brand are on the Chery tuning page.
