The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta, according to Motor1, will not appear before 2028 — and it will no longer be a classic hatchback, but a sporty “two-box” C-segment crossover: taller than a regular passenger car, but lower than an SUV. Hybrid and fully electric versions are expected, and the design was previewed by the Cuorerosso concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Officially, Alfa Romeo has not announced the name, date, or specifications — everything below is presented as rumors with references to sources.

What is known about the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta
The latest details appeared on October 13–14, 2026: Alfa Romeo CEO Santo Ficili at the Paris Motor Show told the Italian edition of Motor1 about the brand’s plan through the end of the decade. There are no direct quotes in the publication — only a retelling of the strategy. It suggests the following:
- Giulia and Stelvio remain in production until the end of 2027;
- in early 2028, a new SUV between the C and D segments will debut, which will be assembled in Melfi;
- after it, the Giulietta successor will arrive — a C-segment model that Motor1 describes as a “sporty crossover”;
- the production car’s style is preliminarily shown by the Cuorerosso concept, but it will be taller than it.
Whether the new model will actually be called Giulietta has not been confirmed by the brand. The Italian magazine alVolante writes about this model as a mid-size five-door car with the “provisional” name Giulietta.
Why the Giulietta will become a crossover rather than a hatchback
Back in September 2026, Ficili, according to QN Motori, promised a new C-segment car that would “ideologically continue the line of the 147 and Giulietta,” and he separately emphasized: “It will not be an SUV. It will be a modern reinterpretation of that type of car.” Motor1’s October description does not contradict this: it is not an off-roader, but a raised two-box body — something in between a hatchback and a compact crossover. In its headline, the Spanish version of Motor1 directly writes that the new Giulietta will aim more at the Volkswagen T-Roc than at the Golf.
As a reference for proportions, Motor1 mentions the 2003 Alfa Romeo Kamal concept — a compact crossover 4.35 m long and 1.62 m tall. These are not official dimensions of the new model, but only an example of how tall the car could be.
Which platform and engines are expected
According to Motor1, the new Giulietta is set to receive a multi-energy Stellantis platform derived from the STLA One architecture, which group head Antonio Filosa announced in May 2026. It is precisely what makes it possible to build both internal-combustion and fully electric cars on the same basis. Therefore, the following are expected:
- hybrid versions, where electric power assists the gasoline engine;
- a fully electric version;
- high-performance Quadrifoglio versions — Motor1 writes that they are “worth waiting for.”
Sources do not name power outputs, battery capacity, range, or prices. The Spanish Motor1 edition adds that the suspension, steering, and brakes will be tuned at the Balocco test track, and passenger and cargo space should be greater than in the previous Giulietta.
What will carry over from the Cuorerosso concept to the production car
The Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso concept (“red heart”) was shown in Paris in October 2026. It is a four-seat 2+2 coupe 4.7 m long and 1.98 m wide, with a 2.93 m wheelbase and a claimed aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.28. The concept itself will not go into production — Alfa Romeo calls it a design manifesto for future models.
For the new Giulietta, according to Motor1, it will pass on the brand’s new design language (on the concept, this is a reimagined three-lobed front end with the “scudetto”) and a driver-oriented cabin with a stronger connection to the brand’s history. The production car will not get the coupe’s low silhouette — it will be taller. The first model in the new style, according to alVolante, will be the Tonale successor in early 2028; the magazine expects round rear lights in the spirit of the 33 Stradale specifically on it.
When the new Giulietta will appear and what Alfa Romeo will release earlier
There is no exact date, and sources differ slightly:
| Source | Publication date | What it says about timing |
|---|---|---|
| Motor1 (Italy, international edition) | 13–14.10.2026 | Giulietta is “expected in 2028,” after the SUV planned for early 2028 |
| alVolante | 11.10.2026 | a five-door model with the provisional name Giulietta — in 2029 |
| CarExpert | 12.10.2026 | a new C-segment hatchback that may revive the Giulietta name — by the end of the decade |
| QN Motori (Ficili’s words) | 06.09.2026 | “later,” without a year |
So the realistic horizon is 2028–2029. Earlier, a new SUV between the C and D segments from Melfi will arrive, and Giulia and Stelvio will last until the end of 2027. The compact Alfa Romeo Junior remains the entry-level model, while the new Giulietta, according to the Spanish version of Motor1, will sit above it and have a more premium character than the Tonale.
How the new Giulietta will differ from the 2010–2020 Giulietta
The previous Giulietta is a classic five-door hatchback produced from 2010 until the end of 2020; we wrote about it in reviews of the five-door Giulietta hatchback and the facelifted model. The new car will change not cosmetically, but in the body type itself.
| Parameter | Giulietta 2010–2020 | New Giulietta (rumored) |
|---|---|---|
| Body | five-door hatchback | two-box crossover, taller than a hatchback, lower than an SUV |
| Segment | C (Golf class) | C |
| Powertrains | gasoline and diesel engines | hybrid and fully electric version, Quadrifoglio expected |
| Platform | — | multi-energy Stellantis based on STLA One (expected) |
| Status | discontinued at the end of 2020 | not officially unveiled; 2028–2029 |
What is already in the catalog for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta right now
It is too early to talk about accessories for the new model — until it appears, there are not even exact dimensions. But for the current Giulietta 2010–2020, in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta tuning section there are parts that freshen up the car without repainting: a front lip spoiler and a DPT rear diffuser made of ABS plastic in gloss black, and Omsa Line stainless-steel door moldings (Italian stainless steel from a Turkish manufacturer, precise fit). For owners of any Alfa, we separately compiled badges and lettering for Giulietta and the general badges and lettering section; there is also a self-adhesive Multijet emblem 135 mm — the name of the brand’s diesel engines. The rest of the brand’s models are on the Alfa Romeo tuning page, and other show premieres are in our round-up of the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
