Under the code PS1 — “Projet Spécial 1” — on 12 October 2026 Alpine unveiled the A310 Vision concept at the Paris Motor Show: a two-seat coupé 4.55 m long and only 1.18 m high, inspired by the legendary 1971 A310. This is the first concept in Alpine’s new “special projects” line, built on the APP platform of the next A110. The powertrain was not disclosed, and the company is not officially promising a production version.

What Alpine PS1 is and why it became A310 Vision
On 6 October Alpine published a teaser — a single headlamp hidden in a flat hood, with an LED strip in the colors of the French flag — and referred to the car only as PS1, Projet Spécial 1. The company explained that this is the first car of the third direction of its product strategy. The first direction is “icons” (A110), the second is “daily” models A290 and A390, and the third is special projects outside the core range. For a week, the press speculated what was behind it: a supercar rival to the Ferrari SF90 with a hybrid V6, or a successor to the four-seat A310 GT.
The answer came on 12 October at 9:20 Central European Time in Hall 6 (stand A22): PS1 received the name A310 Vision. The concept was timed to anniversaries — the original A310 with a four-cylinder engine was introduced in 1971 as the successor to the Berlinette, so it is 55 years old, and the V6 versions are 50. Along with PS1, Alpine brought to Paris a sculpture of the new A110, the A290 Collection series, and new colors and trims for A390.
What the dimensions and platform of A310 Vision are
A310 Vision is a low, wide coupé with a very short wheelbase for its length:
| Parameter | Alpine A310 Vision (PS1) |
|---|---|
| Length | 4 550 mm |
| Height | 1 180 mm |
| Width (rear, maximum) | 2 030 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2 450 mm |
| Seats | 2 (according to Auto Express) |
| Platform | Alpine Performance Platform (APP) |
| Powertrain | not announced |
According to Auto Express, the concept is lower, wider, and longer than a Porsche 911 Turbo S. Underneath is the Alpine Performance Platform (APP), a modular pressed-aluminum architecture that will also underpin the next A110. Alpine emphasizes that APP makes it possible to change wheelbase, height, weight distribution, and cabin position — and that is exactly what A310 Vision demonstrates. According to design chief Antony Villain, the platform is flexible enough for these proportions and geometry.
How the design echoes the old A310
The designers worked alongside a historic A310 that stands in the Alpine studio, but they did not copy it. The lighter upper body references the early four-cylinder car, while the dark lower section and wide “shoulders” recall the V6 versions. Villain says the concept was made in about three months, although the idea itself had existed for several years.
- “Pop-down” headlights. The original A310 had pop-up headlights; here, slim LED headlights are hidden in the hood and appear on start-up.
- S-duct in the hood — an air channel borrowed from motorsport: air from the front bumper exits through the hood and generates front downforce.
- Central Y-Zero “blade” running along the car, and rear lights that function as an aerodynamic element.
- Two-section rear wing with a semi-transparent effect — Alpine says it “evokes ice and mountains” — and a ducktail above the open rear end, through which wide Michelin tires are visible.
- Wheels with a triangular pattern — a reference to the letter A and the solid discs of early A310s.
- Aluminum-colored body with a black lower section inspired by Formula 1, a semi-transparent roof canopy and glazed lower door sections; the roofline comes from the Alpenglow hypercar.
The interior was shown only partially: organically shaped seats, color blocking and physical controls in a Hi-Fi equipment style, a steering wheel with orange trim.
What engine PS1 has and whether there will be a production version
There are no technical details: neither power output, nor the type of powertrain, nor the battery. Alpine CEO Philippe Krief only said that future special projects may be electric, internal combustion, or hybrid. The official position is unambiguous: A310 Vision is not a preview of a production model, it is a creative exploration of the brand’s heritage.
At the same time, according to Auto Express, Villain would like to see the car on the road, and the new platform makes it technically feasible; a positive reaction from the public in Paris could change the plans. Autocar writes that the design chief hinted at a possible limited series. There is a benchmark: Alpine’s first “special project” is the A110 R Ultime, limited to 110 units with revised mechanics, aerodynamics, and engine. Krief explains the logic like this: it is “not a market for 100,000 cars,” but a halo model can help sell the brand’s other models. The A310 itself as a French answer to the Porsche 911, according to Auto Express, is no longer planned.
How PS1 differs from the new A110
They are different cars that only share the APP platform. The new third-generation A110 was shown in Paris as a sculpture — tied to it is the production electric coupé, which we covered in the piece “New third-generation Alpine A110: what is known about the electric coupé”. A310 Vision stands apart: it is not an early look at the A110, but a show car demonstrating what other proportions the same architecture allows. Other premieres of the show are in our overview of the Paris Motor Show 2026.
The aerodynamic solutions of A310 Vision — the wing, ducktail, diffuser, and splitters — are the language sports cars “speak” with the air, and part of it has long moved to everyday cars in the form of rear spoilers. What a spoiler is and what its functions are on the road, we covered in the article “What a car spoiler is and what its functions are”, and universal ABS plastic rear spoilers are selected by length for a specific body.
