Range Rover facelift 2027: What changes for the L460, following the electric Range Rover

Updated Range Rover L460 spotted testing at the Nürburgring with a new lighting signature, taller grille, reshaped air intakes and updated cabin software, plus tech borrowed from the electric Range Rover. No official debut yet — here’s what spy shots and auto media reveal.

Land Rover is preparing the first update for the fifth-generation Range Rover (L460), and judging by spy photos from the Nürburgring it will be restrained: new light signatures for the headlights and taillights, a reworked grille and lower air intakes, updated cabin software and, likely, some hardware borrowed from the electric Range Rover. Officially, the facelift has not been announced: on 20 October 2026 Auto Express wrote that the car will not appear before 2027, while Motor1 allows for a debut in 2027 or 2028. Land Rover has not named prices or an exact date — below is only what can be seen on the prototypes and what the automotive outlets report.

What is already known about the Range Rover L460 facelift

Land Rover unveiled the current L460 on 26 October 2021, it has been on sale since 2022, and over these years the exterior has not changed. Photo spy shooters captured the first prototypes of the updated version back in the winter of 2026, in June — at the Nürburgring (Carscoops, autoevolution), and on 20–21 October Auto Express and Germany’s Motor1 published fresh shots from the same track. Compared with the summer prototypes there is less camouflage, and according to Auto Express, beneath it you can see a design almost identical to the current car and the new Range Rover Electric. The illustrations for this article are renders of what the updated car may look like, not official photos.

The main idea of the update is to bring the petrol, diesel and hybrid versions up to the level of the electric Range Rover, which was officially presented in September 2026. Externally, the EV hardly differs from the internal-combustion version, so the facelift logically takes both the design and part of the hardware from it. More about the EV itself — in our Range Rover Electric overview.

How the L460’s exterior will change after the update

The silhouette, body panels and the two-piece tailgate remain. Changes are concentrated at the front end and in the lighting, and the outlets differ in the details:

  • Headlights. The rectangular shape remains, but the internal light signature is new (autoevolution, Auto Express).
  • Grille. According to autoevolution, the upper grille has become taller. Auto Express emphasizes that it remains open — unlike the closed panel on the electric Range Rover.
  • Air intakes. The lower openings in the bumper have been redesigned, and the horizontal cooling channels are slightly wider (autoevolution).
  • Bumpers. Opinions differ here: Auto Express says the front bumper and rear end look unchanged, while Motor1 considers updated front and rear bumpers likely. This will only become clear after the premiere.
  • Rear end. Most likely a new light signature for the rear lamps (Motor1) and an illuminated Range Rover script on the tailgate (autoevolution).
  • Wheels. A new lineup is possible, including aerodynamic wheels that first appeared on the EV (Auto Express).

The “floating” roof, the decorative trim behind the front wheel and the flush door handles, according to both outlets, remain. As before, there will be standard and long wheelbases, with the long-wheelbase version offering either a five-seat or seven-seat cabin.

What the L460 may get from the electric Range Rover

The most in common with the EV will be inside and in the chassis. Auto Express expects the screens will not get larger: the electric Range Rover has the same 13.1-inch curved central touchscreen display and 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster as the ICE version. The main change is the software: a cleaner interface, more functions and faster menus. Motor1 likewise talks about updated infotainment, navigation and online services. Auto Express calls new trim materials and colors “almost guaranteed.” There are no photos of the updated cabin yet.

In the chassis, the L460 will likely receive the EV’s revised air suspension with switchable dual-chamber air springs. New sound-deadening packages are also possible — the electric Range Rover, according to Auto Express, is 7 dB quieter than the engine-powered version. At the same time, one-pedal driving, typical of the EV, will not carry over to the regular Range Rover.

For comparison — the official figures of the electric Range Rover, from which some solutions are being borrowed, and what is known about the updated ICE version:

Which engines will remain in the updated Range Rover

No major changes are expected under the hood. The lineup remains with petrol and diesel mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids with a large battery; at the top, as now, is the BMW V8. Currently, the P460e and P550e plug-in hybrids with a 3.0-liter inline-six deliver 460 and 550 hp. According to autoevolution, the engines are being revised to meet Euro 7, and peak output will hardly change, although some versions may lose a few horsepower due to stricter particulate requirements. Land Rover has not published specific figures for the updated version.

For those who drive an L460 now or plan to buy one, it is worth remembering: the facelift changes the “face” and lighting, while the body shell, glazing and most panels remain. Accessories for the current body — tuning and accessories for Range Rover V L460, including EVA mats — do not lose relevance. For owners of the previous L405 who want the L460 look today, we explained how to convert an L405 to the L460 style. And about the electric sport model — in our piece on the Range Rover Sport Electric.

According to spy photos: new headlight and taillight light signatures, a taller open grille, redesigned lower air intakes, and possibly new aerodynamic wheels. Publications differ on whether the bumpers will change.
No, according to Auto Express, the grille on the internal combustion version remains open, while the closed aerodynamic panel is a feature of the electric vehicle.
Major changes are not expected: petrol and diesel mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and the BMW V8 remain. The engines are being updated to meet Euro 7, and peak output, according to autoevolution, will change very little.
The body, glazing, and most panels are expected to remain, according to prototypes, so interior and body accessories will most likely fit. Parts that attach to the bumpers should be checked after the official premiere.
