Film for akvapechati: Moving the workpiece

When the surface is already prepared for the application of hydrographic film, we have to solve one more task: to transfer the design from the film to the cleaned, degreased, primed and enameled part. How this is done, we wrote in the section: Aquaprinting: surface preparation .

Transfer process for hydrographic film

• We carefully measure the length, width and height of the workpiece.
• We transfer the dimensions to the future coverage (of course, we take into account the height of the element) and cut off the piece we need.

• We place the cut film in a bath of special hydrographic equipment.

The water in the bathroom must be heated to a specific temperature, since only in this case the gelatin base of the film will completely dissolve, and only a beautiful pattern will remain on the surface of the water (we hope the one you wanted).

• Next, we spray a special hydrographic activator onto the surface of the water (you can buy it, like the equipment and the film, in our online store). Sold in liter containers. The activator can be applied with any spray gun or conventional sprayer. The main thing is to ensure uniform spraying.

• Then we very carefully take our part and slowly immerse it in the bath through the pattern floating on the surface of the water.

• While the part to be decorated is at the bottom of the bath, we must remove all the remnants of the film from the surface of the liquid. And only after that the accessory can be taken out of the tank.

• Now we wash the part several times with clean water, douse it with compressed air and leave it to dry in a room at room temperature.
