New third-gen Alpine A110: what we know about the electric coupe for Paris

The third-generation Alpine A110 will be an electric two-seat coupe on the new aluminum Alpine Performance Platform (APP) with two 800 V batteries and two electric motors on the rear axle. Alpine has not yet shown the production car: on September 28, 2026, the brand presented only a sculpture under a blue veil that conveys the proportions of the future A110, and it will display it at the Paris Motor Show starting October 12. The press expects production in Dieppe in 2027, but Alpine itself is not naming a date.

Illustrations for the article are renders: this is what the production A110 could look like. There are no official images of the car without the veil yet.

What Alpine showed instead of the new A110

Officially, this is an “artistic vision” by the designers, not a concept car. Under the veil is what’s called a phantom volume: the veil does not hide the shape, it emphasizes the proportions. According to Alpine, designers use this technique at the form-finding stage, and this is how the brand decided to show for the first time what the new “Berlinette” will be like. This is only the second generational change of the A110 in the brand’s 71-year history.

What can be seen under the veil, according to Alpine’s press release:

  • a V-shaped front end and a twin light signature — the A110’s signature features will be retained;
  • the roofline falls from the “shark nose” to a low tail;
  • a teardrop-shaped cabin sits between four distinctly muscular wheel arches;
  • the proportions and stance are in line with the original 1961 Berlinette and the current A110.

The designers explain the inspiration by referencing the supersonic Concorde airliner: the blue veil seems frozen at the moment the aircraft breaks the sound barrier. According to the Mondial de l'Auto motor show website, the sculpture will be placed on the Alpine stand in Hall 6. Nearby will be the production A290 and A390 — we wrote about them separately: review of Alpine A290 and review of Alpine A390. Read about the other premieres of the show in our guide to the 2026 Paris Motor Show.

What platform the new A110 will use and what is officially known about it

The technical side is revealed much better than the design. Renault Group unveiled the APP platform in spring 2026 together with the futuREady strategic plan, and in July Alpine showed the A110 FUTURE rolling prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed: the car was driven up the hill by Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly. The prototype had the body of the current A110, stretched to fit the dimensions of the new platform.

What Alpine and Renault Group have confirmed about APP:

  • an aluminum structure and modularity — different body styles and drivetrain variants are planned on the same base;
  • two 800 V batteries using cell-to-pack technology: one in front, the other in the rear, with energy split 25 to 75%; the battery case made of high-pressure die-cast aluminum serves as part of the load-bearing structure;
  • two electric motors on the rear axle with active torque distribution between the wheels (Active Torque Vectoring 2.0), silicon-carbide inverters, up to 21,500 rpm;
  • a central Alpine Dynamic Module controls battery thermal management, motors, brakes, steering, and active aerodynamics;
  • a low driver seating position and a vertical steering wheel, “like in Formula 1”;
  • target mass — about 1.5 t, which Renault Group compares with the best gasoline competitors.

Why split the battery into two parts: according to Alpine, this is how they manage to keep the body height at the level of the current A110 and maintain a low seating position. The power output, battery capacity, and range of the production coupe have not been officially disclosed.

When the production A110 will be released and whether there will be a gasoline version

The current A110 has already been discontinued. According to Diariomotor, the last second-generation car — an A110 R 70 in Alpine Blue with a black roof — rolled off the line in Dieppe on July 1, 2026. In total, more than 35,000 A110s of all generations have been built in Dieppe, including 28,701 second-generation cars. The workshop is now being retooled for the new model.

Next is what is so far press information, not a statement from Alpine:

  • Date. Carscoops and Diariomotor write about production starting in 2027, with Carscoops calling it a 2028 model year. The motor show website mentions 2028 as the launch. There is no official date.
  • Gasoline variant. Alpine CEO Philippe Krief said back in spring to Autocar that the platform was designed with the possibility of installing an internal combustion engine. According to Motor1, the priority is the electric version, and an engine is mainly possible for markets outside Europe, including the USA.
  • Other body styles. According to Motor1, APP is planned for a coupe, a spider, and a more practical 2+2 version that is expected to bring back the A310 name.
  • Mass. Carscoops estimates that the new A110 will be about 300 kg heavier than its predecessor; this aligns with the official target of about 1.5 t.

The nearest checkpoint is October 12, press day in Paris. If Alpine announces a premiere date or specifications there, we will update the article.

What the new A110 means for tuning

For an electric sports car owner, aerodynamics is no longer just about style. A rear diffuser and spoiler affect downforce and drag, and on EVs drag directly impacts range. It’s no coincidence that on APP, active aerodynamics is controlled by the same central unit as the motors and brakes.

On a regular car, the effect is noticeable only at speed: in the city, a spoiler and diffuser are mostly about looks, while on the highway they contribute to rear-axle stability, especially if the body has a flat floor. How a spoiler is designed and how it differs from a wing, we explained in detail in the article what a car spoiler is and what its functions are.

There are no details specifically for the new A110 yet, but the idea of a light coupe with a clean rear end transfers well to other cars. If you want a sportier silhouette for your car, check out universal spoilers and universal rear diffusers — they are selected by trunk and bumper width rather than by model.
