Tuning their own hands: install chrome trim

Installing chrome lining: step by step instructions

All steel accessories intended for exterior styling of cars are mounted on the body using American 3M adhesive tape, the properties of which we wrote in detail in the article " Car tuning: what to attach chrome lining to? ". It is already included in the product kit and allows you to do the tuning yourself with minimal labor. So let's get started...

1. We clean the surface. To do this, we take an ordinary cotton rag, which will not leave threads and fibers at the installation site. We dip it in alcohol (it is better to use ordinary medical alcohol) and carefully wipe the body paintwork in the right place. Thus, we remove dust, dirt from the surface and degrease it.
2. We determine the exact place of installation.
3. We remove the red protective film from the accessory, which is applied to the reverse side of the adhesive tape (one side of the adhesive tape is already pasted on the product). For better adhesion to the paintwork, we recommend warming up the adhesive tape with a regular hair dryer for 3 minutes (this is especially true when tuning with your own hands in the cold season).
4. Now we press the chrome lining to the previously prepared surface for 5-20 minutes (the longer, the more reliable). The main thing is that there are no gaps and cracks between it and the car body.

IMPORTANT: 100% adhesion to the surface is achieved after 3 days, so during this period it is undesirable to wash the car and expose the product to shock and mechanical stress.
