Full BMW G30/G31 facelift to M-Tech 2021

The BMW 5 Series G30/G31, even in its standard configuration, has a modern and recognizable design, but after a facelift to the M-Tech 2021 style the car looks significantly sportier and more aggressive. In this project, the task was to comprehensively refresh the car’s exterior by replacing the stock body elements with a kit in the style of the facelifted M-Tech version.

For the conversion, we used the M-Tech 2021 body kit for BMW G30/G31. Installation and painting were carried out in Chernivtsi at the certified service center ZUBRYN AUTO STUDIO.

This tuning format suits BMW 5 Series owners who don’t just want to add a single spoiler or trim piece, but want to transform the car’s exterior comprehensively and achieve the styling of the later M-Tech version.

How is M-Tech 2021 different from the standard BMW G30/G31?

The main difference lies in the design of the body elements. The standard BMW G30/G31 has more restrained bumpers, while M-Tech makes the front and rear ends far more expressive.

The front bumper gets larger air intakes and more complex geometry, making the car look wider visually. The rear also looks sportier: a different bumper shape and lower section change the proportions of the car and bring it closer to BMW’s factory M packages.

The difference is especially noticeable when comparing the cars from the side and at a 3/4 angle. After installing the M-Tech body kit, a standard 5 Series gains a tighter silhouette and a more modern look.

M-Tech 2021 kit for BMW 5 Series G30/G31

The project was based on the facelift M-Tech body kit for BMW G30/G31. A complete replacement of elements is exactly what delivers a cohesive result rather than a mix of separate parts with different styling.

Before ordering such a kit, it’s important to correctly identify the model, model year, and trim level of the vehicle. For BMW G30 and G31, certain elements may differ depending on the body version and equipment, so compatibility should be checked before work begins.

You also need to consider parking sensors, cameras, driver-assistance systems, decorative inserts, and other equipment located in the bumper areas.

Why does the body kit need to be painted before installation?

Before final installation, the body kit must be prepped and painted to match the car’s color. For a high-quality result, it’s not enough to simply install new bumpers: the surface of the parts needs preparation, the geometry must be checked, painting must be done, and only then should you move on to final assembly.

Accurate color matching is especially important. On large parts such as the front and rear bumpers, any shade difference will be visible immediately. That’s why painting is best done together with a professional test-fit of the kit.

After proper painting and installation, the M-Tech elements look like a factory part of the car, not like additional tuning installed separately.

How does M-Tech body kit installation on a BMW G30/G31 work?

The work begins with removing the stock body parts and doing an initial test fit of the new kit. At this stage, the mounting points and positioning relative to the fenders, hood, trunk lid, and other body parts are checked.

Special attention is paid to uniform panel gaps. The front and rear bumpers must align precisely with the body, so there’s no reason to rush final installation before test fitting is complete.

After preparation and painting, the kit is installed permanently. The required decorative elements, sensors, and the car’s OEM equipment are also transferred or installed.

Cost of BMW G30/G31 facelift to M-Tech 2021

In this project, the price of the M-Tech 2021 kit for BMW G30/G31 was 62 931 UAH. Installation cost — 15 000 UAH, painting the kit — 20 000 UAH.

The work was carried out in Chernivtsi at the certified service center ZUBRYN AUTO STUDIO. Contacts and examples of the service’s work can be viewed on Instagram: @zubryn_autostudio.

What changes after switching to M-Tech?

The most noticeable change is the car’s overall character. A standard BMW 5 Series looks much more aggressive after the facelift, and the body gains sportier proportions.

  • the front end becomes more expressive thanks to the M-Tech bumper;
  • the car’s silhouette looks wider visually;
  • the rear end gets a sportier design;
  • the exterior becomes closer to the facelifted BMW 5 Series 2021;
  • the car gets a cohesive M-Tech style without random individual parts.

This kit looks especially good when paired with sporty wheels, Shadow Line, M-Style mirrors, a trunk spoiler, and other details executed in a unified style.

Who is the BMW G30/G31 facelift relevant for?

A complete switch to M-Tech 2021 makes sense for owners of a pre-facelift or standard BMW G30/G31 who want to significantly refresh the car without replacing it.

Unlike installing a single decorative add-on, a full kit changes several key areas of the body at once. That’s why the result is clearly noticeable from the front, from the rear, and when viewing the car from the side.

This option also suits those who want to preserve BMW’s factory styling. M-Tech doesn’t make the car overly extravagant, but it gives it a much sportier look.

Result of a full BMW 5 Series facelift

After installing the M-Tech 2021 kit, the standard BMW G30/G31 gained a noticeably more modern and aggressive exterior. The new body elements transformed the front and rear ends of the car, while the overall design remained recognizable and close to BMW’s factory styling.

In a project like this, the key factor is not only the kit itself, but also the quality of preparation, painting, and installation. Precise panel gaps, correct fitment, and professional painting determine whether the finished car will look like a factory M-Tech version.

As a result, the owner gets not a set of separate tuning parts, but a complete BMW 5 Series update in the M-Tech 2021 style — with a sportier front end, a more expressive rear, and a cohesive modern design.
