BMW 7 Series F01/F02 (2008–2015) and G11/G12 (2015–2022) can be externally converted to match the style of a newer “Seven”: the facelifted G12 in the M760 version or the current-generation G70 M760. For this, the catalog includes five GBT kits: three for F01/F02 and two for G12, plus M760 and M-Tech body kits without changing generations. Bumpers in all of them are made from composite polypropylene (PP); the parts are supplied ready for painting and mount to factory locations.

How F01, G11/G12 and G70 differ
F01 (short wheelbase) and F02 (long wheelbase, Long) are the fifth generation of the BMW 7; it was produced from 2008 to 2015, with the LCI update from July 2012. In July 2015, G11/G12 entered production: G11 is the short wheelbase, G12 the long. The G11/G12 facelift was unveiled on January 16, 2019, with production starting in March 2019: the grille “kidneys” became about 40% larger, the headlights narrower (with optional laser light), the rear lights gained a light bar across the full rear end, and the rear bumper changed.
G70 was presented on April 20, 2022, with production starting on July 1, 2022. It is recognized by its split lighting: thin daytime running lights on top and a separate headlamp block below, and the “kidneys” can be illuminated. In April 2026, BMW showed an updated G70 for the 2027 model year — we wrote about it in the article “Updated BMW 7 Series 2027”.
| Parameter | F01/F02 | G11/G12 | G70 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Production years | 2008–2015 | 2015–2022 (facelift from 2019) | from 2022 |
| Wheelbase | 3 070 / 3 210 mm | 3 070 / 3 210 mm | — |
| Top version | 760Li, V12 6,0 l, 400 kW | M760Li, V12 6,6 l, 448 kW (pre-facelift) | M760e xDrive, inline “six” 3,0 l + electric motor |
The key thing for a conversion: any kit changes the front end, rear end and lighting, but not the body shell. The roof, doors, glass, interior and silhouette remain from your generation.
Kits for G12: M760 2021 or G70 M760
Facelift to M760 2021 is intended for the pre-facelift G12 from 2016–2019 with the long wheelbase. According to the product page, the kit includes front headlights (Laser type), hood, two front fenders, front and rear bumpers assembled, radiator grille, rear tail lights, side skirts and mounting hardware. It does not fit the short-wheelbase G11, and a facelift car from 2019–2022 simply does not need it. What it looks like on a real car is shown in our work “BMW 7 G12: installation of the M760 2021 facelift kit”.
M760-Style body kit is a simpler route for G12 2016–2019: M760-Style front and rear bumpers and side skirts. The hood, fenders and lighting remain stock, so the car keeps the pre-facelift design but gets “M” style bumpers.
Facelift to G70 M760 2025 converts the G12 to the look of the new generation and, according to the product page, fits G12 of all years — both pre-facelift and facelift. The list of parts for this kit is not detailed on the product page: confirm the contents with the manager by VIN. Owners of the short-wheelbase G11 need to clarify separately which parts from the kit will fit their car.
Kits for F01/F02: G12 M760 or G70 M760
For F01 and F02 there are two options to convert to G12 M760 — they change the front end in the same way, and differ in the rear end:
- With replacement of the trunk lid and rear quarter panels. The kit photos show a front bumper with grilles and mounts, “kidneys” and headlights in G12 style, hood and front fenders, rear bumper with decorative exhaust tips, rear tail lights, trunk lid with a trim piece, rear quarter panels, wheel arch liners, moldings and brackets. The rear end gets the G12 shape, but there is also more bodywork at the back.
- Without replacing the lid and quarters. The photos show an M760 front bumper with grilles, hood and front fenders, headlights, rear bumper with diffuser and exhaust trims, rear tail lights, wheel arch liners and mounting hardware. The stock trunk lid and rear quarter panels remain.
The exact list in both cases is verified by the manager against your car before checkout. These are parts specifically for the F01/F02 body; they are not installed on a stock G11/G12.
G70 M760 kit for F01/F02 is the most radical option, a step “two generations ahead.” On the product page the contents are given as “see photos,” so confirm the list of parts with the manager. If you do not need the new generation, for F01/F02 there is an M-Tech body kit — also confirm the contents with the manager.
What to check before ordering
- Body and wheelbase. Provide the VIN, year and version: F01 or F02, G11 or G12, pre-facelift or facelift. Long-wheelbase side skirts are longer, so short and long versions often require different parts.
- Lighting. The kit headlights may not support all functions of the original adaptive lighting. If you have adaptive lights, a US-spec car, or headlights that have already been replaced, discuss it in advance: repinning or coding may be needed, and that is work for an auto electrician with BMW experience.
- Electronics. Parking sensors, surround-view cameras, cruise-control radar and night vision: verify what is transferred from the stock parts before installation.
- Dimensions. These kits arrive in several large boxes, so plan where you will receive and store the parts.
- Painting. Shipping primer is not a final coating: parts are first test-fitted and panel gaps adjusted, and then painted.
You can have the kit installed at the DD Tuning network of certified service centers — the manager will point you to the nearest one.
Is it worth converting a “Seven”
It is worth it if the car is technically in good condition and what you want to change is specifically the exterior — or if after an accident you need new bumpers, headlights or a hood anyway. Moving within closely related generations (G12 to the M760 facelift, F01 to G12) looks the most cohesive: body proportions are similar, and the wheelbase in F01/F02 and G11/G12 is the same.
Moving to G70 is the biggest amount of work and the most noticeable break between the new front end and the old silhouette, so it is chosen by those who consciously want the “face” of the current “Seven.” It is not worth converting the car if the goal is the interior and technology of the new generation: then it is more honest to look at a real G70 (our review of BMW 7 G70/G71). We broke down the same approach for other flagships — in articles about BMW 5 F10 in the style of G30 or G60 and about Mercedes S-Class W221 in the style of W222 or W223.

Pros and Cons of the BMW 7 Facelift for the New Generation
The look of a restyled G12 M760 or the new G70 on an older body
Bumpers made of composite polypropylene (PP), installed in the factory mounting points
Choice of scope of work: body kit, front-end restyling, or a full rear conversion
The engine, interior, and maintenance remain familiar
Makes sense to combine with body repair after an accident
The roof, doors, glass, and interior remain from your generation
The G70 kit contents are not broken down in the listings — it needs to be confirmed by VIN
The headlights may lack the functions of the original adaptive optics
A large amount of bodywork and painting
The short G11 wheelbase requires separate compatibility checking
