Deepal S07: Changan’s Chinese electric crossover heads to Europe — specs, prices, markets

Deepal S07 is a mid-size electric crossover from the Changan Group, with which the Chinese manufacturer began its own sales in Europe. The model was introduced to the European public on 21 March 2025 in Mainz, Germany, and by autumn Changan was selling it in eight countries. In 2026 the geography expands: Italy, Spain, new importers, and following the electric version the company promises hybrids. We break down what this car is, what its specifications are, how much it costs in Europe, and what an owner should know in our conditions.

What Deepal S07 is

Deepal is a sub-brand of Changan, one of the largest automotive groups in China, under which it produces electric cars and vehicles with range extended by a petrol generator. In its home market the model was first called Deepal S7, mass production started on 31 May 2023, and since 2024 it has carried the S07 index. The crossover reached Europe after launching in Thailand, Mexico and Australia.

For Europe, Changan chose only the fully electric version with a single motor. In China, the S07 is also sold as an EREV, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that works as a generator and only recharges the battery. The European car is a 4.75 m-long crossover, meaning it rivals the Tesla Model Y, Skoda Enyaq and Hyundai Ioniq 5 in size.

How Changan is entering Europe

The European launch took place on 21 March 2025 in Mainz. The first markets were Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom: in continental Europe sales began in April 2025, in Britain in June. At the IAA Mobility motor show in Munich in September 2025, Changan reported that the S07 is already sold in eight European countries, with Italy and Spain to follow.

The company’s bet is long-term:

• the S07’s design was created at Changan’s Italian design centre in Turin, operating since 2001, while final tuning is handled by a research centre in Birmingham;
• by 2030 Changan plans to invest €2 billion in Europe and launch eight models of three brands here — Deepal, Nevo and Avatr;
• following the S07, the more compact Deepal S05 appeared in Europe, and for both models the company has confirmed the arrival of plug-in hybrid versions in several countries in 2026.

It is also worth remembering tariffs: electric vehicles from China in the EU are subject to an additional duty, so Changan is also considering building its own plant in Europe, but has not yet announced a specific decision.

Battery, drive and specifications

The European S07 has a single electric motor on the rear axle and a 79.97 kWh lithium-ion battery. WLTP range is up to 475 km, average consumption is 18.6 kWh per 100 km. On AC it accepts up to 11 kW, and on fast charging the peak, according to British tests, is 93 kW: from 10 to 80% the battery charges in about 50 minutes. That is slower than most rivals, and testers call it the model’s main compromise.

The equipment includes a heat pump, a function to power external devices from the battery (V2L), and the ability to tow a trailer weighing up to 1,500 kg with a retractable towbar.

Design and interior

On the outside, the S07 stands out with slim headlights with a prominent daytime running light signature, a continuous LED strip at the rear that emphasises the car’s width, hidden door handles that extend automatically, and a restrained spoiler. The silhouette is sporty, with smooth transitions and no aggressive creases.

The main interior feature is a 15.6-inch touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, which can be rotated towards the driver or the passenger. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and there is an augmented-reality head-up display (AR-HUD) that shows speed, navigation prompts and warnings directly in the driver’s field of view. The seats have electric adjustment and ventilation, the climate control is dual-zone, and rear passengers control it and the electric sunshades from a separate touchscreen.

Changan calls the 1.9 m² panoramic roof the largest in the class. For belongings there is a 510-litre boot (up to 1,250 litres with the seats folded), a 125-litre front trunk, and 28 small-item compartments in the cabin.

Safety and Euro NCAP

In December 2024, the Deepal S07 received five stars from Euro NCAP. Adult protection was rated at 95% — the highest result among all cars tested by the organisation in 2024. Child protection is 87%, driver assistance systems 77%, and protection of pedestrians and cyclists 74%. In the side impact and pole impact tests, the crossover scored maximum points.

Driver assistance systems include adaptive cruise with lane centring, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, as well as surround-view cameras with a “transparent underbody” function for parking — Changan classifies this set as Level 2 driving automation.

Prices, warranty and Ukraine

The base price of the Deepal S07 in Europe starts from €44,990; in the UK it is £39,990. In Britain the model is offered in a single, fully loaded trim. The car comes with a 7-year or 160,000 km warranty, and the battery with an 8-year or 200,000 km warranty.

In Ukraine, the S07 is usually brought in by independent importers from China, so the specifications of such cars may differ from European ones: a different battery, range measured on the Chinese CLTC cycle, or a hybrid version with a petrol generator. Before buying, it is worth уточнювати which exact version you are looking at.

Mats for Deepal S07

We do not yet have model-specific mats made precisely for the Deepal S07 in our catalogue, so for the time being a practical choice is universal ones. For an electric car this is not a small thing: under the cabin floor sits the traction battery, and water, snow and salt that get onto the standard carpeting in winter accumulate in it and damage the mat and wiring. Stingray Premium universal mats or Polytep rubber mats with a rim work well: the high rim holds meltwater in. Before purchasing, match the dimensions to the cabin floor, and if necessary trim a universal mat only in the permitted areas.
