Skoda has unveiled the production Epiq — a compact electric crossover that has become the brand’s most affordable EV. The world premiere took place on May 19, 2026 in Zurich, and in June, series production started at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Spain. Epiq gets front-wheel drive on the new MEB+ platform, two battery options, a WLTP range of up to 440 km, and a 475-liter trunk. Here’s what we know about the new model: specifications, equipment, prices, and how it differs from the petrol Kamiq.

From concept to production Epiq

The name Epiq was first shown by Skoda on a concept in March 2024. In September 2025, ahead of IAA Mobility in Munich, the brand presented the Epiq show car — an almost production-ready preview of the series vehicle, and the first model fully executed in the new Modern Solid design language. Back then, Skoda promised a length of around 4.1 m, a 475-liter trunk, and a starting price on par with the petrol Kamiq.

The production version was shown on May 19, 2026 at the Umwelt Arena in Zurich. Production started in June at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Pamplona: Epiq became the first Skoda assembled in Spain. The model is part of the group’s Electric Urban Car Family alongside the Volkswagen ID. Polo, ID. Cross and CUPRA Raval — all four are built on the same platform.

MEB+ platform and three power versions

Epiq is the first Skoda on the MEB+ platform and the only front-wheel-drive EV in the brand’s current lineup. The larger Enyaq and Elroq have their main motor on the rear axle; for the compact crossover the powertrain was moved to the front, and the batteries were made smaller and lighter — which creates more cabin space and lowers energy consumption.

The range consists of three versions, whose names hint at the approximate battery capacity:

  • Epiq 35 — 85 kW (≈116 hp), 267 N·m, small battery;
  • Epiq 40 — 99 kW (135 hp), 267 N·m, small battery;
  • Epiq 55 — 155 kW (211 hp), 290 N·m, large battery.

All versions use the APP 290 permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor, and top speed is limited to 160 km/h. According to preliminary Skoda technical data, 0–100 km/h takes 11.0 s for the Epiq 35, 9.8 s for the Epiq 40, and 7.1 s for the Epiq 55. For the first time in Skoda EVs, there is full one-pedal driving in B mode with adjustable regenerative braking intensity.

The suspension is classic for the compact class: McPherson struts up front, a semi-independent torsion beam at the rear. Disc brakes are fitted on both axles, ventilated at the front. An interesting detail: since the rear axle does not recuperate, the rear brakes are used more often, and the discs rust less — a relevant issue for EVs where the mechanical brakes can remain barely used for months.

Batteries, range and charging

Skoda offers two battery chemistries. The small battery is lithium iron phosphate (LFP), while the large one is nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) with higher energy density.

AC charging, 0–100%11 kW / 4 h11 kW / 4 h11 kW / 5.5 h

An 11 kW onboard charger is standard across all versions. The key difference between the two entry versions is DC fast-charging power: on the Epiq 35 it is limited to 50 kW, so for frequent highway trips it makes more sense to look at the Epiq 40. An options package allows you to order a heat pump — especially useful in winter, because an LFP battery loses range more noticeably in cold weather.

Epiq supports bidirectional charging. V2L mode powers external devices (for example, an e-bike or tools) via an adapter in the charge port, and V2H can feed energy to a home through a compatible bidirectional DC charger — currently, the AmbiCHARGE Home 11 kW from Ambibox is certified for Epiq.

Dimensions, trunk and practicality

In terms of size, Epiq is close to the Skoda Kamiq, but thanks to the flat EV floor it offers more space for items.

The 25-liter frunk will appear later in the production run and is included in the Premium package. In the doors, armrest and glovebox there are another 28+ liters of storage compartments. Maximum braked trailer weight is 750 kg for the Epiq 35 and 40 and up to 1 200 kg for the Epiq 55, roof load is 75 kg. Among the brand’s Simply Clever solutions are an umbrella in the driver’s door, an ice scraper in the tailgate, and bag hooks.

Modern Solid design

Epiq is the first production Skoda fully executed in the Modern Solid style. The front end is formed by the glossy black Tech-Deck Face panel, framed by slim T-shaped headlights — this light signature will also appear on the brand’s future SUVs. The bumper features vertical air intakes borrowed from the Vision 7S concept. At the rear, T-shaped taillights frame the Skoda lettering, and the bumper mirrors the front’s pattern.

There are two headlight types, both LED; optional LED Matrix optics with 12 segments and four lighting modes is available. The drag coefficient is 0.275–0.283: it is helped by active grille shutters, Air Curtain channels, aerodynamic wheels, a flat underbody and a rear diffuser. There are six colors, wheels range from 17 to 19 inches, and an optional panoramic roof with an electric sunshade is offered.

Interior, multimedia and safety

At the center of the dashboard is a 13-inch Android multimedia screen with an app store and the AI-based Laura voice assistant. Later, a software update will add a digital key for a smartphone. Epiq is the first production Skoda without any animal-derived materials: instead of leather there is Techtona, the seat fabrics are made from recycled polyester, and overall the car contains more than 34 kg of recycled materials. An optional Canton audio system rated at 425 W with 10 speakers is available.

Standard equipment includes seven airbags, including a center airbag, as well as Front Assist, Side Assist with warnings for reversing out and door opening, Lane Assist, traffic sign recognition, and a driver fatigue monitoring system with a camera in the mirror. Optional extras include Travel Assist 3.0, which reacts to traffic lights, the Top Area View 360° surround-view system, remote parking from a smartphone, and Crossroad Assist with corner radars for intersections.

Trims, prices and First Edition

At launch, Epiq is offered in two trims — Essence and Selection — with additional packages: Convenience, Tech, Travel, Light & View and Premium. Officially, Skoda cites a price of around 26 thousand euros and promises that in many countries the base version will cost about the same as a petrol Kamiq. In Germany, the prices are as follows:

  • Epiq 35 Essence — 25 900 euros (goes on sale in autumn 2026);
  • Epiq 40 — from 27 900 euros (Essence) and 31 400 euros (Selection);
  • Epiq 55 — from 32 100 euros (Essence) and 35 600 euros (Selection).

The limited First Edition series is based on Selection and is available only with the most powerful 155 kW drivetrain. It is distinguished by orange accents on the mirror housings, bumpers and in the interior, a black roof, orange seat belts, and exclusive 20-inch wheels; range on these wheels is up to 430 km. In Germany, this version is called Edition Eins and costs 35 600 euros.

There is no official data on Skoda Epiq sales in Ukraine yet.

Mats and mud flaps for Epiq

There are no model-specific mats for Epiq yet: patterns for a new model appear a few months after sales start. For the first season, a practical option is Stingray 3D universal mats or high-lip rubber mats: they retain water, snow and salt, which in winter are especially harmful to carpet and wiring in an EV floor. To protect the sills and rear bumper from the sand-and-salt mix, universal mud flaps sized to the wheel arch of a compact crossover will work. Other options are in the car mats section.
