Do-it-yourself boot lid soundproofing

We have already told you how to do do-it- yourself trunk soundproofing , but we practically did not touch the covers separately. Therefore, in this article we bring to your attention step-by-step instructions on how to silence the trunk lid.
Required Tool
To soundproof the trunk lid, you will need the following:
- rolling roller;
- Degreaser;
- Clean rags;
- Building hair dryer;
- Cutting tool (knife, scissors).
Process
Before proceeding to work, it is worth recalling that the trunk lids of a sedan and, for example, a station wagon or hatchback differ in their design. Therefore, for the last two options, work on noise is carried out according to the principle of soundproofing doors , which you can find on our website.
So, step by step, the work is as follows:
- First, carefully remove the cover trim. It is not necessary to remove the cover itself.
- Then, if there is dirt / dust, remove it.
- Using a rag and, for example, gasoline, degrease the entire metal surface. Let's dry.
- After that, cut out pieces of material to size.
- Next, we glue the vibration absorber in small sheets, while rolling it with a roller. The main thing here is not to overdo it so that the lid does not become too heavy.
- Apply the second layer of noise.
- If there are protruding tails and excess, cut off.
- For the purpose of anti-creaking, we cover the plastic parts of the trunk with a noise absorber.
- The last stage is the installation of the skin.
This completes the work on soundproofing the trunk lid. We will be glad if our tips are useful to you.
