DS N°7: new DS electric crossover with up to 740 km range

DS Automobiles is updating its most popular model. The DS 7 crossover is giving way to the new DS N°7 — a “first-class premium SUV,” as the brand itself calls it. The newcomer is longer, features a sleek body with a drag coefficient of 0.26, and comes in three electric versions with a range of up to 740 km under WLTP. For those not yet ready for an EV, there is a 145 hp mild hybrid.

What the DS N°7 is and when it was unveiled
DS N°7 (pronounced “DS number seven”) is the successor to the DS 7, the brand’s bestseller. DS presented it on March 18, 2026. The new name continues the system the brand introduced with the N°4 hatchback and the flagship DS N°8.
The N°7 competes in the compact premium crossover segment — the densest class in the European market, where the main rivals are German SUVs of similar size. DS is betting not on sportiness but on what it does best: ride comfort and smoothness, cabin quietness, and trim with “French chic.”
Design: V-shaped “blades” of light and a roof spoiler
On the outside, the N°7 inherited its design language from the N°8. According to Gilles Vidal, Head of Design for Stellantis’ European brands, in the C-segment a premium SUV has to “stand out from the crowd” — and DS did it with lighting.
- Front. Instead of a classic grille there is an illuminated DS Lumina Screen panel; on the sides are V-shaped DS Light Blade daytime running lights. The main headlights are adaptive DS Pixelvision with intelligent high beams and cornering illumination.
- Silhouette. A long roofline slopes smoothly rearward and continues into a spoiler above the rear window — a cue borrowed from the DS Aero Sport Lounge concept. This very profile delivers a 0.26 drag coefficient, very low for a crossover of this size.
- Rear. The taillights are also done in the Light Blade style: their “blades” are not just decorative but also work for aerodynamics, directing airflow.
- Glass. The rear door side windows have become 30% larger, and the optional panoramic roof is 40% larger than on its predecessor.
The palette includes six colors: Palladium gray, Topaz blue, Alabaster white, Crystal gray, Perla Nera black, and Silk green. You can order a contrasting black roof and a two-tone treatment that extends onto the hood and front fascia.
Dimensions and specs
The N°7 is larger than the DS 7: the wheelbase has been extended by 5 cm to 2.79 m, while width and height remain the same. Here are the key official figures.

Electric versions: up to 740 km on a single charge
There are three electric N°7 E-TENSE versions, and they differ by battery and drivetrain:
- E-TENSE FWD — front-wheel drive, 169 kW (230 hp); in temporary boost mode, 191 kW. Battery 73.7 kWh, range up to 543 km.
- E-TENSE FWD Long Range — 180 kW (245 hp), with boost to 206 kW. Battery 97.2 kWh, range up to 740 km, and on the motorway at 120 km/h, according to DS, — more than 450 km.
- E-TENSE AWD Long Range — two electric motors and all-wheel drive, 257 kW (350 hp), with boost up to 276 kW (375 hp). 0–100 km/h in 5.4 s, range up to 679 km.
Top speed for all electric versions is limited to 190 km/h. The 97.2 kWh battery with NMC cells is made in France at the ACC gigafactory.
Charging is the model’s weaker point. The architecture is 400-volt, so DC fast charging is limited to 160 kW: from 20 to 80% in 27 minutes (with the smaller battery — 31 minutes), and in 10 minutes with preheating the battery you can add about 190 km. The onboard charger is 11 kW, optional 22 kW. There is Plug&Charge (charging without a card or app), one-pedal driving with three levels of regeneration, and a V2L function — a 230 V outlet that powers household appliances from the traction battery.
A hybrid for those who aren’t ready for electric
The DS N°7 Hybrid combines a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine with a 48-volt electrical system. Total output is 145 hp, claimed consumption is about 5.3–5.4 L per 100 km. This hybrid cannot be charged from an outlet, but, according to DS, it can drive on electricity only for about half the time in the city. There is no diesel or plug-in hybrid in the new generation.
Interior and technology
Inside, DS continues the “French luxury” line: soft materials, aluminum or natural wood inserts, optional Nappa leather, Alcantara, ambient lighting. Depending on trim, the front seats have heating, ventilation, and massage, as well as a neck-warming function. For rear passengers — heated seats and separate climate control.
- Screens. A 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 16-inch DS Iris System 2.0 multimedia touchscreen with a voice assistant based on ChatGPT, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Assist systems. DS Drive Assist 2.0 with Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, an augmented-reality head-up display, DS Night Vision infrared night-vision camera, and digital rear-view mirrors.
- DS Active Scan Suspension. A camera at the top of the windshield scans the road, and the computer fine-tunes each shock absorber separately in milliseconds for bumps ahead.
- Quietness. Noise-absorbing laminated glass and an audio system with surround sound.
The first European press test drives praise the ride smoothness and precise steering, but note that the central screen is too narrow — interface elements on it are small, and rear legroom is less than the long wheelbase would suggest.
STLA Medium platform and production in Italy
The N°7 is built on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform — the same one used by the third-generation Peugeot 3008, Opel Grandland, and Jeep Compass. The architecture is designed from the start for both EVs and hybrids, so DS got both types of powertrains in a single body.
The car was designed in Paris and is assembled at the Stellantis plant in Melfi (Italy). The battery is made at ACC’s gigafactory in Billy-Berclau in northern France, and the electric motor — at the plant in Trémery. According to DS, nearly 90% of components are European-made.
Prices and sales launch
In France and Germany, orders open in May 2026, and the car reaches DS showrooms in autumn, from Q4 2026. Trim levels include Pallas and Étoile, as well as the launch edition La Première. According to the press, in France the electric N°7 costs from €46,990 for the version with the smaller battery and from €50,610 for the Long Range; in Germany prices are higher. DS has not yet announced plans for the Ukrainian market.
Floor mats for the DS N°7
For the owner of a new crossover, the first purchase after the dealership is floor mats: the interior is light, the trim is expensive, and autumn and winter in Ukraine spare neither shoes nor the floor. The N°7 is longer than the DS 7 and built on a different platform, so mats from the predecessor won’t fit, and there are no model-specific sets for the new car yet. Until they appear, universal options will help:
- For the cabin. A set of universal rubber mats with a raised edge holds water and snow and can be trimmed to the floor’s shape.
- For the trunk. For the 560 L compartment, it’s worth choosing a large universal trunk mat and trimming it to the outline if needed — before buying, measure the length and width of the floor.
